Assign Animal Food

Description
Assign food policies to animals.

  • A new "Animal" policy will be assigned to colony animals
  • A new column appears in Animal tab to manage policies
  • Animals will inherit food policy from parents

This mod was simplified a lot for Rimworld 1.4. It does one thing only and should be easy to understand.

Some common caveats:
  • Animals will respect food policies on caravans. Maybe it's a good idea to create a separate policy for traveling so that animals don't starve to death.

Compatibility:
  • Works with Animal Tab
  • If using the Numbers mod, don't forget to add a food restriction column, if you use Numbers option to take over Animals tab.
  • Mod can be enabled/disabled.
  • The mod does not modify food filter hierarchy at all, so it should be compatible with mods that do.

What was removed in 1.4 (these features still available if you load mod for 1.3):
  • Preventing animals from eating drugs, because my quick test with a starving donkey in a closed room showed that the donkey does not want to eat ambrosia.
  • There was an option to prevent animals from eating food in areas designated to cut. Due to the changes in Rimworld internals (seems to be performance-related), the option was cut.

Translations:
  • French by qux

Shout-out to alternative mods:
- "Animal Food Restrictions" and "AnimalFoodRestrictionInTab", for being an original inspiration to improve upon.
- "Animal Controls" mod.

Yep, and another batch of animals starving due to a simple flu. This mod works well with healthy animals. The slightest sickness, and it's a death sentence. The same goes with the "Animal Controls" Mod.

Can confirm, unable to feed sick animals, even when lifting all the food restriction of both the animal and caretaker.

That sounds like the game limitation mentioned in an earlier version... You need atleast 48 of the appropriate food to start taming if I rememebr correctly.

Yes use Animal Controls if you need more functionality. This mod is very basic and I don't plan expanding it.

So, is there a way to make the Animals food policy apply when taming wild animals as well as feeding tamed animals? My tamers keep feeding the wild creatures Fecal Sludge, which keeps resulting in Toxic Buildup and death.

Don't know why? I was using the animal control module next door and found that I could not train the animals, kept showing that they were not enough food, and had to watch them return to the wild. And when I tried to use this module, I found that the comments of the module were also, did you use the same part of the error code?
