Yep, and another batch of animals starving due to a simple flu. This mod works well with healthy animals. The slightest sickness, and it's a death sentence. The same goes with the "Animal Controls" Mod.
HighFlyer96 17 Mar @ 5:37am
Can confirm, unable to feed sick animals, even when lifting all the food restriction of both the animal and caretaker.
ReAnNe 12 Feb @ 4:16am
better pawn control used together, this mod error....
Zairya 16 Dec, 2024 @ 5:58am
@2962342497

That sounds like the game limitation mentioned in an earlier version... You need atleast 48 of the appropriate food to start taming if I rememebr correctly.
Everyone  [author] 18 Nov, 2024 @ 12:43pm
Yes use Animal Controls if you need more functionality. This mod is very basic and I don't plan expanding it.
gunns22 4 Nov, 2024 @ 5:12pm
So, is there a way to make the Animals food policy apply when taming wild animals as well as feeding tamed animals? My tamers keep feeding the wild creatures Fecal Sludge, which keeps resulting in Toxic Buildup and death.

Don't know why? I was using the animal control module next door and found that I could not train the animals, kept showing that they were not enough food, and had to watch them return to the wild. And when I tried to use this module, I found that the comments of the module were also, did you use the same part of the error code?
Shannon 3 Jun, 2024 @ 7:30pm
@akry i have the same problem, but i discovered that if i make my doctors manually pick up the hay, they'll feed it to the animals properly
Akry 24 May, 2024 @ 1:19pm
I changed the "animal" policy to only allow Hay which I have thousands in stockpile.
The right click menu says "not enough food" so I cant feed the sick cows.
Is this something I can fix?

@StarlightSovereign Make sure grass is selected in Animal restrictions
Everyone  [author] 12 Apr, 2024 @ 10:43am
> This mod seems to make carnivores eat grass?

I will check it out, but all this mod does is to add food policy table to animals.

> Can you check it?

I have ported the mod and I am playing with it now. I remmember testing it thoroughly and noticed no such issue.
StarlightSovereign 19 May, 2023 @ 8:42pm
So I'm having a problem since adding this mod where animals that should eat grass (live plants) will no longer eat 100% grown grass in normal temperatures. :c
It seems since they are on food restriction maybe there's no way they can eat?
Can you check it? Thanks!

This mod seems to make carnivores eat grass?
ooji.karasuma1 31 Dec, 2022 @ 9:11pm
Hi. I just want to say thank you for this mod. I am tired of colonist feeding animal with my lavish meal
Everyone  [author] 30 Nov, 2022 @ 1:25pm
Yes, I have marked "Animal Control" as incompatible. If you use Animal Control there is no need for this mod.
HAZRAD 30 Nov, 2022 @ 7:30am
FYI a compatibility issue with Animal Control popup for me...
Player 1 23 Nov, 2022 @ 7:29pm
THX - With your MOD the "Hauling" (all) Animals are no longer a Pain then a Gain...:steamhappy::steamthumbsup:
posthum 22 Nov, 2022 @ 9:30am
Another valuable QOL feature restored, thank you!
Everyone  [author] 22 Nov, 2022 @ 7:56am
To clarify: from my quick tests, I don't think they are eating drugs. Do it in case I tested it wrong.
Everyone  [author] 22 Nov, 2022 @ 7:54am
Please find other mod to prevent animals from eating drugs. From now on, this mod will simply add a food restrictions tracker to animals and will do nothing else.

If you want animals to stop drinking beer and eating drugs use this mod
Gaven 23 Oct, 2022 @ 12:34am
Hello, any work on 1.4?
Everyone  [author] 23 Jan, 2022 @ 7:20am
This is Tynian's idea that drugs aren't food.
Aziz 23 Jan, 2022 @ 6:26am
I couldn't find alcohol and drugs in the restriction tab?
I have downloaded this mod for that because these stupid animals drank all my beers
ettinacat 9 Jan, 2022 @ 12:10pm
Lurmey, my german shepherds are doing the same without this mod. I think they're just overconfident hunters.
Lurmey 12 Nov, 2021 @ 9:03am
I'm not sure if this is causing it but my german shepherd keeps preferring to hunt huge animals like caribou and kangaroo rather than just eat the kibble I have. He has access to it and I can get him to eat it by just forcing him close to it.

It's really annoying because he keeps running out to the far edges of the map, getting beaten to near death and then accumulating tons of scars that keep his body on low health, so any day now he'll just die to a single unlucky hit from a squirrel.
gamer20088 23 Oct, 2021 @ 11:22am
When trying to feed animal due to it being hurt it says no food cannot feed even though I have food to feed.
torse 28 Sep, 2021 @ 5:02pm
I'm not sure if this is an issue with SaveStorage, Assign Animal Food, or compatibility between the two

but I'm having the same issue as the poster below, even if I save the meal restrictions. Every time I load them most plants are unchecked. I've tried manually deleting the .txt files and recreating them, but that didn't help.

ideas?
ShiningKakera 25 Sep, 2021 @ 9:18pm
Weirdly enough the Animal food restriction does not generate grazing-friendly by default for me. Most plants and grasses are unchecked.
sirenn 20 Sep, 2021 @ 10:57pm
薬草栽培してるから野生薬草と栽培薬草の食事制限してたのに薬草がなかなか増えないので畑見てたらmod動物が育ちきる前に食べてて収穫されてなかった
爆笑しました
Everyone  [author] 1 Sep, 2021 @ 7:16am
Thanks, updated the compatibility notes to reflect that
cloudsora 1 Sep, 2021 @ 4:11am
Yeah definitely doesn't work with better pawn control, log threw a root error for it and like below I had to alt+f4 out.
Slingshot 27 Aug, 2021 @ 2:56am
The window wont close down for me either. Pressing animals, clicking escape, or even switching to World Map all fail at closing the window. There is no indication of any errors or any report to provide unfortunately.

What I did was open animal tab, assign a policy, closed down the policy window and then animals tab would stay put. Game runs in the background as normal though it seems.
Everyone  [author] 20 Aug, 2021 @ 4:51am
@PremierVader it's minimal, animals consult the food filter when looking for food in the exact same way the colonists do
PremierVader 19 Aug, 2021 @ 3:24pm
Hey does this mod affect performance at all? Is it better in terms of performance than other similar mods?
Garydos 18 Aug, 2021 @ 5:50pm
No. Well, thank you for making this mod. I will gladly resubscribe later. It was helpful. :)
Everyone  [author] 18 Aug, 2021 @ 2:31am
@Garydos nevermind, I don't think that's related - mod is dealing only with animal food. Unless you have animal prisoners it should not affect prisoners.
Everyone  [author] 17 Aug, 2021 @ 2:15pm
@Garydos I have an idea - did your prisoners by any chance were the colonists before?
Garydos 17 Aug, 2021 @ 1:46pm
I think this mod was screwing with my ability to feed prisoners, or colonists eating on their own or feeding as a doctor. At some point, pemmican or packaged storage meals throw a string exception, and then the food problems occur. Turning this mod off and loading a dysfunctional save made eating normal again.
Twilight 8 Aug, 2021 @ 12:59pm
@Corbloc thx, i might take a look. I bookmarked it but didnt use it yet
Twilight 8 Aug, 2021 @ 12:57pm
okidoke.Could have been the git repo. I just was curious with the given size
Everyone  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 12:45pm
The art files aren't loaded and don't affect performance. They are there in case I move on.
Corbloc 8 Aug, 2021 @ 10:04am
@Twilight, i reccomend using RimPy . It has a function that allows you to strip mods. I have 200+ mods installed, 1gb total and RimPy striped 600mb off.
Twilight 4 Aug, 2021 @ 12:06am
Surely it doesn't have to be 17 Mb big.... did you accidently include the git repository?
Wilihey 31 Jul, 2021 @ 10:41pm
no more animals eating lavish meals or beer, such a smart fix to an annoying and dumb issue
