Yeah, I went back to the old version.

@D YellowMAdness I'd like to ask for that version if you don't mind. It's less about disliking the new version and more about "oh gee, two cakes"

@Watdahec: Is the cooldown that thing where he looks like he's completely capable of attacking me but he's just slowly moving around outside the range of my attacks so I have to run toward him? If so, I thought that was a trap since when I went for it, he tended to teleport & wreck me. If that's the cooldown, that's good to know since I just though he had no safe openings in phase 3.

Also, that's really helpful about the sword slam. Thanks.

@D YellowMadness The key to the third phase is that, unlike phase 1, 2, and 2.5 or whatever, you can't just easily hit Vergil during an attack pattern to get him out of said attack pattern, instead, if he does an attack pattern, you're GOING to have to deal with it by parrying it, the whole way through, and if you succeed, you get to easily hit him afterwards due to being in a 2 second cooldown to the next pattern.

Also, about the sword slam, you can tell whether you need to parry 4 or 3 times if he's in DT or not.
For example, if in DT, 3 times is enough, while not in DT, 4 times should do the trick.

I finally won deathless by just trying enough times to figure out the completely arbitrary rules about when parrying will work, when dodging will work, & when neither will work. When i finally won, I got SSS. What a miserable experience. I think I'm just gonna go back to fighting the old version from now on since I have it backed up anyway.

Every time I reach the final phase (which is extremely easy to do), he just disappears & does an endless loop of attacks until I die without ever having a chance to hit him because he's busy being invincible, being offstage, or not existing or using his triple slam that just loops back into all the other other moves. Putting a bunch of bullshit at the end of an otherwise easy fight doesn't make a good challenge.

Also, the amounts of times I have to parry an attack varies randomly. For example, I sometimes have to parry a sword slam into Spontaneous Sword Spin 4 times to the spinning sword won't get me. Other times, 3 is enough & I get punished for attempting a 4th but there's no way to tell in the moment because if you do it right, the spinning sword doesn't spawn in the first place.

You covered fun old openings with homing projectiles. That & the parry mashing just make the fight tedious by removing all strategy from the equation & turning it into raw memorization & pointless reptition.

It should be a separate mod because it's fundamentally a different fight. Also, his slam attack stunlocks me with an instant ring of swords that spawns on me & completely ignores my parry despite the big black circle appearing that lets you know you successfully parried. The only solution I've found is to interrupt it with a neutral jab but if my character didn't have an instant attack like that, I'd be completely fucked. Also, if I'm standing behind him, it still hurts me.

When he appears me behind me during the last phase, if I interrupt him with an attack, he disappears & then I get exploded to death by swords from nowhere before my attack ends. If I parry his triple sword slam in the last phase, he follows up with a 0-to-death projectile combo that completely ignore parries.

Well, it could be actually, since there was not one but a lot of updates judging by Change Notes. However it really feels harder because on his first phase (at least from Lvl.5 to Lvl.9 and Lvl.1) you either dodge attack, parry it or Vergil will instantly punish you for taking such attack by hitting character even more. Just taking more damage may feel more challenging, i guess that's why.
My personal issue was second phase, when Vergil is doing "Die!" attack, sometimes after parrying him when he lands he can do a second hit(?) like you didn't parry him at all. This attack can be parried tho resulting in 2 parries at once when he lands on the ground.

Maybe they was encountering a bug, starting out at final phase doesnt seems normal.
