Cuttlefish

Description
This is Cuttlefish, a privately-owned geological survey and mining submarine.

If you'd like to modify and re-upload this submarine, you may do so provided you credit me and link to this workshop page. :)

There is a wrecked version of this submarine available as well: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2510943326

Big thank you to the Barotrauma Discord server for all their help. Some circuitry is the work of Astraltor, some of Joey5729 and some of WorkingJoe. Special thanks to them!

This submarine has perhaps too many features. I may have gone a little overboard.

FEATURES

THROTTLE
Firstly, you can set the throttle on the engines via the navigation terminal or the applicable red button.
There are four settings: Slow, Standard, Full and Flank. They modify the engine's force in quarter increments. Additionally, flank speed activates an auxiliary engine. You will find Slow very useful for docking and navigating narrow paths. You will find flank very useful for destroying all of the junction boxes.

BILGE TO BALLAST
From the red button on the navigation terminal, you can activate a bilge to ballast mode. This converts the boat's bilges into temporary ballasts. This is useful if you need to increase your descent speed, but impedes drainage overall.

MORSE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
Courtesy of WorkingJoe's morse code circuitry, there's a communications terminal in the command room that you can use to communicate with crew attached to the Cuttleshuttle, the survey and mining drone. The communication system has an effective range of 700 meters, which well exceeds that of the radio and regular chat. Additionally, you can activate a mission clock (also courtesy of WorkingJoe) which will display in the terminal and on monitors. The clock times out after an hour.

CUTTLESHUTTLE
The Cuttleshuttle is technically a drone, but I couldn't resist the rhyme. It's a little unwieldy to use but dive teams will hopefully find it useful for exploration, salvage, and mining. It has a low power draw, makes use of the mentioned morse code communication system, and is fitted with a spotlight and other supplies. The Cuttleshuttle is light enough that divers with scooters can push it around if they need to.

ARTIFACT STORAGE
There's a rudimentary artifact storage area in the docking port. If you close the hatch between the docking port and airlock, the docking port room will fill with water which should ease some issues transporting the ones that enjoy being on fire. The room does not fill when the sub is already docked. To remove the artifact, I recommend flooding the airlock and swimming with the artifact outside.

PERIMETER WARNING
Around the exterior of the sub I've fitted motion detectors. If they're tripped by enemies, it will notify you on the gunnery compartment sonar monitor and on the light-up board in the airlock. Additionally, the airlock light-up board will warn you if the sub is in motion, which I recommend you heed before exiting the sub.

AUTO-CYCLING OXYGEN GENERATOR
The oxygen generator is designed to automatically turn off when it's not needed, saving you a lot of power. It monitors four rooms: Command, Crew Quarters, Medical, and Brig. You can manually activate the generator for a period of time just long enough to fill a full array of empty oxygen tanks by pressing the button on the generator.

ADDITIONALLY
The doors in this sub aren't ID-locked, so players and bots both can move about the sub unimpeded. Some storage containers are ID-locked.

The ballasts are a bit wonky in this sub. It's because I'm manually calculating the fill levels in the ballast independent of the navigation terminal's set_targetlevel function. I'm doing this because my ballasts are 'irregular'. I'm using circuitry by Joey5729 to accomplish this; Joey5729 was very helpful in troubleshooting some issues I was having (thanks again). The ballast pumps only pump at 100% throttle, so when they have to make minor adjustments, they tend to over-adjust and the sub bobs. If this happens, if you input a little thrust the sub should even out.

Please let me know what you like and don't like about this sub! I don't know how much more time I want to spend on it, but if there are glaring issues I can certainly address them. Thank you!

Everything seems to be working fine. The supercapacitors for the guns are mounted on the ceiling above the batteries in the electrical nacelle.

I just realised that the junction boxes for the guns are missing
Also I tried running the sub in vanilla and it still did not work so it has to be that a update broke the subs junction boxes or something.

I'll take a look later tonight. It's possible an update broke something.

I'm not sure if I'm just genuinely dumb or the ship isint working but for some reason the guns have no power

They're custom modified versions of existing systems created by WorkingJoe; I don't think I have permission to re-upload them on their own. The good news is both the Morse code and the clock are available on WorkingJoe's workshop. You'd just have to modify them a bit to get them to work for your own submarine.

could we get a sub assembly of the morse code comm system and mission clock uploaded to workshop?

for a moment i thought the engine was a entire shuttle

Your boat is a technological masterpiece, with an unbeatable design. The level of your development is what I strive for in my projects (I'm still far away).

Thank you :)
