Description
gm_forestforts is a simple, symmetrical map with a focus on large scale fight and battles between NPCs, players, or a mix of both!
This map includes extensive NPC noding to make NPCs move, flank and take cover realistically for more dramatic battles.

You start out in a special spawn room, and from there you can choose to either teleport to one of either the red or blue base's "spawn rooms".

Each base has a front entrance with an openable/closable front door, a side entrance, and a upper sniper deck around the base, as well as a hidden entrance in the back that needs to be blown up or smashed through before using it.
There are different routes to take to get to and from each base, as well as a large amount of obstacles and cover in between.

Highly recommended addons for this map:
Note: If an addon has a "spawn flag" setting, set the spawnflag to "256" to enable long-range behavior for NPCs. This enables them to see and attack at a much longer range than normal!

- iNPC - Artifical Intelligence Module or Enhanced Sandbox NPCs
- Zombie/NPC Invasion+ for automatically spawning enemies; has spawn flag setting
- NPC Tools/NPC Tools 2 for manually setting up NPC spawn points; has spawn flag setting
- Any other addon of your choice that spawns HL2 NPCs or affects their behavior
- For NPCs that require a navmesh, you can either create your own or download one, like this one here:

Optional suggested addons for this map:
- Any spawn protection addon (not needed for singleplayer, obviously)
- Any addon that allows custom player spawnpoints to skip going to the main spawnroom
- Any addon for land vehicles (unfortunetly, does not support air vehicles)
- Any weapon/gun addon (Note: if you are using M9K weapons, type "M9K_disablepenetration 1" to prevent bullets from going through glass and doors of the bases's spawn rooms)


Other notes
When starting up the map for the very first time, the game may freeze for a few seconds after the map completely loads to compile NPC nodes. Afterwards, it should not do that.

is there a way to raise the roof and outside borders? i want to use dive bombers if that’s an easy task :steamthumbsup:

Most people aren't able to generate navmeshes because of how the start of the navmesh begins at player spawn, which is isolated. I used the markup area command to mark navigable areas in the main part of the map which lets the navmesh generate in more areas it otherwise wouldn't. And then I manually edited some areas where the generation was a bit off.

could you move the spawn room below the map rather then having it above it? Any nav meshes generated only generate in the spawn room and not the playable map.
