Realistic Rooms Rewritten

Description
For 1.6, 1.5, 1.4 and 1.3

Lower your room space requirements!

Safe to add mid-save.

What is this?
This mod is a complete rewrite of the original Realistic Rooms mod by Dragon Fist Ent (here) and it's updated version by Scherub (here).

The original mod uses outdated methods which cause incompatibilities with other mods.

This mod is also FULLY CONFIGURABLE from the in game settings menu.

What does it do?
This mod lowers the required space for each tier of room size (cramped, rather tight, etc.).

The table below shows the comparison between vanilla and this mods default values, along with the values from the original Realistic Rooms mod.

IMPORTANT! These values are not the number of tiles in a room, the formula the game uses for this is ([numOfWalkableTiles] * 1.4) + ([numOfOccupiedTiles] * 0.5)
Meaning that an empty 4x4 room will actually score 22.4 on space.

The default values are somwhere between the original mod and it's lite version. I find these to be more balanced. If you like you can change the values in the config menu to whatever you prefer. I do recommend using x.5 values for rounding reasons explained at the bottom.

I have also included a feature from the original mod which lowers the beauty impact of dirt and sand dropped inside a room.
Because a bit of dirt on the floor doesn't make the room uninhabitable.

QA
Q: Why use this mod instead of this one instead?
A:That mod doesn't support decimal values. That's literally it.
Mod no longer updated.

Q:Why are all the default values .5
A: Game rounds up on the GUI. Without the .5 the number shown in-game would not match directly with the tiers.

COMPATIBLE WITH 1.6

You're not adding ([numOfOccupiedTiles] * 0.5).

Example in your 5x5, it's 25 tiles of course, if 5 are occupied with stuff, its 20*1.4=28 + 5*0.5=2.5 so 30.5. Free tiles * 1.4 + Occupied tiles * 0.5.

Hey mate i love the mod im trying to change the settings to match the following rooms, can you check my math please?

2x3 room Rather Tight - (2x3=6(-2 for stuff) 4x1.4=5.6)= 5.5
3x3 room Average-Sized - (3x3=9(-3 for stuff) 6x1.4=8.4)= 7.5
4x4 room SW Spacious - (4x4=16(-5 for stuff) 11x1.4=15.4)= 14.5
5x5 room Quite Spacious - (5x5=25(-5 for stuff) 20x1.4=28)= 27.5
6x6 room Very Spacious - (6x6=36(-5 for stuff) 31x1.4=43.4)= 42.5
7x7 room EX Spacious - (7x7=49(-5 for stuff) 44x1.4=61.6)= 61.5

@SSJKarma the beauty of this mod is that whatever you think is BS, you can edit to fit your own sensibilities. Not sure what you're complaining about since Lucifer has empowered you to chart your own room-sized destiny.

If you're just venting, then I agree the vanilla values are a bit much. However, IRL I have met with clients in their houses which had rooms that match the modded sizes (if we estimate 1 tile = 1 square meter or approx 10 sq ft). Yes, those 50,000+ sq ft (approx 5000 sq m) mansions were absurd to my middle-class instincts, but they def qualified for extremely lavish/spacious.

A 175 sq m room is approx the size of an entire US mid-20th century house. Not my own pref or within my budget, but they do exit IRL.

i think the exponential growth on the numbers is bullshit to begin with.
scale is already all messed up in this game.
maximum size in vanilla for a maxed out room requires a 28x10 room which is madness.
even with th enumbers you are using , its still madness to want anything room wise bigger then 11x11. so i would make the +8 mood bonus attainable by rooms maximum 11x11 with stuff in them. right now even with this mod, its madness to even try to get maximum stat bonus.

Thanks! I just created a small patch with gpt for it lol

@cloudust not this mod, that error is regarding the room 'type' parameter being null. Room type is not changed at all by this mod.

@Lucifer

I keep getting this error appearing - any clue if it's from your mod?

Error while Determining if X should need space: System.ArgumentNullException: Value Cannot Be Null. Parameter name: type
