Realistic Track Speed

Description
Cornering speeds as in the original

Since the spatial and temporal conditions are strongly compressed in the economic simulation, driving physics also follows this principle: The trains drive too fast in curves. This mod is intended for everyone who wants to implement reality uncompromisingly. The tracks are provided with adapted cornering speeds, whereby a further distinction is made due to automatic detection: In the case of mainline tracks (from 120 km/h* Vmax) a fictive track superelevation is simulated, whereas for speed restricted tracks (below 120 km/h* Vmax, mods) including 'station track', this is dropped and correspondingly lower cornering speeds are assigned. This distinction can also be switched off if necessary.

*) default; other threshold values possible via settings file, see below

Important notes:

- In order to exclude irregular track types, e.g. cable cars, from changing their cornering speed, is filtered according to other characteristics besides the maximum speed. The option 'Only specific track types' should only be switched off exceptionally.
- The changes only affect newly created tracks. If tracks that have already been laid should also be included, the 'Track Updater' mod is additionally required.
- The speed values of the tracks laid using the mod are even retained after removing the mod. To restore the original values, the 'Track Updater' mod is required!

Individual Settings - SettingsSaver compatible!

If necessary, individual changes, including adjustments for special track types, can be entered in <mod ID*>/res/scripts/wkrts_settings.lua. Only an editor, minimal scripting and knowledge of the file names and paths of the track types to be changed or the respective mods are required. To protect your settings against overwriting by later mod updates, the 'SettingsSaver' mod should be installed in addition. External 'Realistic Track Speed' settings files can be imported into <mod ID*>/config/ and have priority over your own settings without destroying these or their backups.

*) On Steam it is '2558586098', otherwise 'wk_realistic_track_speed_1' (without brackets, asterisk or quotation marks).

Haha na I was trying to squeeze in a crossover.

No, but funny you should say that cause I'm considering doing a recreation of my local area and/or the suburban network out of Wellington and/or some other areas of New Zealand. Given we have some very small curves as it is and the map/s I'll download off the workshop or create myself will likely have to be downscaled some corners and crossovers are going to have to be very tight.

@donaldwal: 5 km/h??? You must have very very small curves. :steamhappy: Do you ride high speed trains on mining tracks?

I've just started using this mod. I've got to say so far I'm loving it. Now when the game says a section is too tight I agree when the limit shown is like 5km/h lol. Good stuff man.

Understood

I think it would be good to send an email to UG, I'm sure it's a game bug and I can't fix it.

Got an example of the bug(?) Right double switch has correct switch speed and most times it works but sometimes it becomes like on the left where a train can switch at full track speed. Gonna see if it could be the track mod.

@ Banelord300: I cannot confirm this. But even if it was true, it wouldn't be an issue of this mod.

Think the new updated introudced a bug to double slip switches allowing trains to pass at full speed

@Garfield: It's only the maximum curve speed at a fictive superelevation. It's not visual.

i have a question, is the track banking n stuff visual or does it just change the speed on what the train can drive on in the curve
