Better VR Route Adviser

Description
Summary:

Rearranged layout of the route adviser elements for playing in VR.

The relevant UI positioning variables in the config.cfg file (example below) should be changed to suit your own viewing preference. The config.cfg file is typically found in …\documents\American Truck Simulator.

Note also that 1.50 appears to have added as the default setting a small 'radius' to curve the home menu and also it is translated and pitched down. To flatten and return to the center (like it was prior to 1.50) the 'pitch', 'y' and 'radius' should all be changed to zero.

uset r_manual_stereo_ui_pitch_game "0.0" #route adviser pitch up/down
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_yaw_game "0.0" #route adviser yaw left/right
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_pitch "-30.0" #home menu pitch up/down
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_yaw "0.0" #home menu yaw left/right
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_y_game "0.0" #route adviser translate up/down
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_x_game "0.0" #route adviser translate left/right
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_y "-0.5" #home menu translate up/down
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_x "0.0" #home menu translate left/right
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_static_fov "40" # ¯\(°_o)/¯
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_fov_game "40" #route adviser scale
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_fov "50" #home menu scale
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_radius_game "0.0" #route adviser curvature
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_radius "3.0" #home menu curvature
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_dist_game "0.9" #route adviser forward/backward
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_dist "0.9" #home menu forward/backward

Values ending in '_game' will change the route adviser UI while values which do not end in '_game' will change the home menu UI.

It is best to adjust these in small increments. I recommend using 0.1, or 0.05 increments for adjustments to ‘x’ and ‘y’ fields (if you need to nudge the entire UI up/down/left/right and increments of 5 or 10 for the ‘fov’, ‘dist’, 'pitch' and 'yaw' fields. If you would like to change these values while in the game and not have to keep restarting the game to make the changes to the config.cfg file, then you will need to enable the developer console and can then input the changes there directly.

It is this mod, which appears to no longer be getting any updates since April.

(Closed) Google Maps Navigation Night Version

If you want to change the colours to something different, you would need to either unpack the above mod and try and tweak it, or find a different mod that is the colours you want, or create a mod yourself to get the colours that you want. If you check the SCS forums likely someone will explain which *.sii file(s) need modifying. If you do not know how to mod, there are various tutorials for this.

Hey, Hate to bug you again but what mod are you using to change the colour of the suggested route? I like the blue colour, but want to change it sometimes.

you can do that in console?! lol wow, that is going to make life so much easier to move the UI around. I was opening and closing the game each time to change to value to where i wanted it. Thank you!

Not that I am aware of. But I think if you are just referring to changing the UI position values from the config.cfg file, then you can open the developer console and enter the changes there and you do not have to keep exiting the game. If you mean values in the *.sii file for the mod then I think it ends up being trial and error. You could always take screenshots I suppose, each time you change something and then review the screenshots to get a better idea of how much a certain value moves the UI, or a certain element of it.

Hi, is there some sort of grid for reference? Its such a pain in the ass to have open and close the game 100 times just to get it where you want it.

Based on feedback from the ETS2 mod, it seems that a recent update may have changed the default values of the following config.cfg fields to the following values which results in the route adviser being offset to the right and down.

uset r_manual_stereo_ui_pitch_game "-10.0" (pitch down)
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_yaw_game "-40.0" (yaw right)
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_y_game "-0.2" (translate down)
uset r_manual_stereo_ui_x_game "0.5" (translate right)

To correct, these should be changed back to “0” which will center the user interface again.

As noted in the mod summary you may need to further modify the various field values listed to achieve the desired user interface positions in both the menu and the in-game route adviser overlay. The values given in the summary are my own user interface size and position settings, they may not work for everyone and should be adjusted in small amounts as needed to meet your preference.

As far as I am aware, the only available rotations are those in the config.cfg file, so X (pitch) and Y (yaw).
Thank you very much!
I see it makes no sense to post settings, because they depend on the seat settings etc...

Is there a way to rotate the Route Advisor around the Z-axis?

Yes, the mod is also in the workshop for ETS2.

Will this work with ETS2 as well?
