Second, traffic can be a problem on the highway. I don't think it has enough capacity. As much as I love roundabouts, I don't think they provide enough speed for traffic to flow smoothly. Though it seems to eb and flow - so sometimes I'm at 85% traffic flow and sometimes it drops into the 60s.
Third, I think a 4L national road (2L in each direction) from the roundabout near the start square going into the start square would be a better approach than a highway. It would be the same number of lanes (you're using 2 lane highways now). it would be easier to connect the city to as well. Don't use NExt2. There is another 4L national road that can be used that is just as good.
I've only just started my build but I expect to get to at least 100k in population.
