Target, Infantry, COAX!

Description
[www.paypal.com]

What does it do?

Default mechanics in this game looks simple and sounds proper - whatever tank's crew see, they load proper ammunition for main gun and fire. Problem is, they do the same for infantry, and most often doesnt use coaxial machinegun. Result is also simple - you left one tank unwatched, it gets attacked by infatry - you micromanage other part of map, get back to your tank and it got half of HE ammo left and there is plenty infantry still alive.
You literally can see tanks spending HE round on single human (and often miss & repeat).

Mechanics of this mod is slightly different. Tanks with HE already loaded will use it for infantry, but thanks to simple addon in code "only if loaded" next to HE round, tanks will use coaxial machinegun more. If tank's crew will see some armored target, they will switch to AP/APHE etc., after taking down/losing that target they wont switch to HE back for infantry.

Automatic switch to HE rounds is made only for trucks, static weapons. Dont be suprised, if you notice your tank is using already loaded ammo to new spotted target (for example AP round for truck). This is by design. After that, if truck is not taken down, tank will load HE for it. If tank was firing to static weapon, with HE, it will also use HE/coax for infantry. You can also still manually switch to whatever ammo you like.

Next feature is cannon aiming for the hull. There was number of reasons for that. First is gun dispersion - Aiming for the hull dont equal hitting only hull. Tanks vs tanks in close engagements was often changing target from hull/turret to track or engine, resulting hitting only that part - enemy vehicle was able to shoot back.

Is this mod compatible with other mods? I dont know, i cant test this with all mods from workshop. You can test it yourself and let me know if something is not working.

REMEMBER TO APPLY IT AS LAST ONE.

As mod manage in game is broken, you have to make sure of proper mod order before each game launch. Check out Mr Cookie's Mod Manager on workshop.

Instruction of mod activation. It always need to be activated as LAST MOD.
So ;
- go to workshop section in GAME MENU....
Because game engine is powered by hamsters on a wheel, I strongly recommend using Mr.Cookie's Mod Manager. You activate mod follwing same rule as in game menu, without "apply" in between, just "save changes" on the end

Easiest way to ensure everything is loaded fine, without mod manager, is loading mods one by one in game, NOT CLOSING GAME, going to my documents, my games, gates of hell, profiles, (your profile number), and open options.set via notepad. Copy part from very bottom :
{mods
"mod_XXXXXXXX:0"
"mod_XXXXXXXX:0"
"mod_XXXXXXXX:0"
"mod_XXXXXXXX:0"
"mod_XXXXXXXX:0"
"mod_XXXXXXXX:0"
"mod_XXXXXXXX:0"
"mod_XXXXXXXX:0"
}
and paste it into new created text file, called whatever you want. Then create shortcut for your options file and to your new text file. Before every launch open both files and check if mod order is the same or simply copy everything from your text file to proper place in options.set. Sadly devs didint mentioned they acknowledged the issue, so it have to be made every game launch.

It mention all vanilla definitions, but most important one, on which whole mod basis is "all_he" (not to confuse with all_he_arty), so in theory it can work with all mods. I have to check for sure after all new updates.

is this mentioning specific tank name / ammo name? (hotmod compatibility etc)

Could try using the mod manager that is available on the workshop

Or if you speak about detected infantry on vehicle rear, there is nothing you can do. That's how game works, once vehicle crew is aware, that there is someone behind them, they will watch it untill you kill it or move away and break detection and target sharing zone. Target sharing is 70m between each of your/friendly units (they give info further about detected enemy).

That's bug introduced by game update. Nothing that I can fix. We have to wait for fix with next game update.

Can something be done about tanks turning their turrets 180 degrrees to target something on the other side of the map they shouldn't be paying attention to? It is so incredibly frustrating for tanks with slow traverse speed on their turrets to turn their turret all they way around to target a lone infnatryman and then get killed by the tank infront of them

It should be compatible.

might be a dumb question man, but do you happen to know if this is compatible with hot mod and the sub mods for it?

Also, cannons (including tanks) are aiming for the vehicle hull. Now. In close engagements they won't aim for engine or track as they did in vanilla.

Keep in mind, even using HE for infantry is least waste, as tanks also use coaxial machine gun more (it have added line next to HE "use only if loaded" for infantry targets, which mean main weapon for infantry is machine gun).

Base game have function to lock ammo type, this mod changes crew behavior to not spam HE without locking ammo type.

Still, if enemy car, truck, static weapon appear on horizon, and crew detect it, they switch to HE, and since THEN they spam HE to infantry. User then need to change to AP manually or leave unit and it switch to AP by its own once they detect light, medium or heavy tank or apc, armored car.

So basically what this mod changes for now, tank crew won't switch to HE by their own upon detecting INFANTRY, and use machine gun instead.
