Ethereal Storage

Description
REQUIRES ACE

Tired of items gathering dust while your hearthlings are too busy doing their jobs and living their busy lives to restock all the mad loot that's dropping? Want to avoid the mess of stockpiles without having to craft and build huge warehouses? Can't stand the game telling you that you have too many items? Ethereal Storage is here!

Every normal chest/crate/urn (that isn't explicitly an "input" or "output" storage) is automatically transformed into an Ethereal Storage, a nearly unlimited extra-dimensional storage in the Ether through which all Ethereal Storages are connected! Treat these chests as mere access points to the limitless void! And every item your hearthlings drop on the ground will automatically be transported to the Ether!

The Ethereal Storage has a flat capacity of one million items, and is unique for each player in a multi-player game. And you can add an effect to all your Ethereal Storage access points in the gameplay settings, so it's easy to see which storage entities are actually part of that network.

Ethereal Storage access points should now be fully undeployable. There is a safety feature implemented: if the last access point gets undeployed, it will not be put into the Ethereal Storage (it could still be restocked into some other container, or it will be left on the ground), which should allow you to deploy it again and regain access to your items.

Okay, I started a new playthrough and it works as intended now.

Are you able to place multiple items of the same kind?
I wanted to place down a few wooden chests as access points to the storage space like mentioned in the description, but when I tried, the moment the chest got placed down they just vanished and the work order was removed...
Mind you, I used the mod on an already existing savefile. Is that a problem? (There were no chests placed down yet before installing)

I wonder if there a way to limit food since hearthling will instead keep eating raw food since raw and cooked food are mix in together like this

Hi Paul, firstly I want to say that this mod is one of the best I've ever used! It's become a determinant fixture to my stonehearth experience (I honestly can't play the game without ACE and Ethereal Storage)

I do have one enhancement Idea that I was hoping you might entertain: would you be open to the idea of making the feature where drooped items are automatically teleport into the Ether Storage to be a toggle setting?

I find that I love and regularly abuse the ethereal storage shared access points and their near infinite capacity, but sometime I find myself missing the option to make use of the automated hauler golems in the game.

Just an idea. I love your mod!

Update: We updated to 0.9.6.17d, and my friend still had the problem. This building was further away from the starting wagon than normal, so where I had placed a chest nearby the foundation, he had placed a chest basically right on top of it, and his hearthlings then started building properly. I also want to say, I apologize, I had sworn I clicked the Hearthling reaction in the Discord server, but clearly did not, so I see the rest of the channels now.. Though since the 17d update, we have not been able to play our game due to constant crashes by one of our players.

Paul, thank you for the quick response!! I went to the Stonehearth ACE discord (from the link in the ACE mod description), and there appear to be no channels that allow posting, and all of these channels look like they only have Mod posts. I will try their Github or post on their mod comments. Thank you!

This sounds like an issue with the ACE building material collection system, and I'd recommend posting on the ACE Discord about it. When collecting resources for a building, they look like they're dropping the item on the ground, but they're not actually doing so; if the AI thinks that the action is failing for some reason and needs to abort, then when canceling the action they would in fact drop the item, and it would get scooped up into ES. But even without ES, the fail state you're describing means the item would just be getting dropped on the ground and then either restocked or picked up again to bring to the building and drop again.

I have a problem, in the very beginning, my hearthlings are building my 3rd building. The first 2 went fine, but for this one, they have dug up the foundation and are getting ready to start placing the wood foundation (just 1 block down), and they walk up, drop the wood, it disappears to storage, then they walk all the way back to a chest, pick up the wood, bring it over, drop it again. I have seen, even in vanilla, that they do this sometimes while building, they will drop it on a "group of blocks" and build out from there. I put a small crate right beside the build location, and they just go back and forth all in-game day long. Help!

Starting to get clusters of "[name] can't find [x] to craft [y]" and "[name] can't find food" notices.
They always happen in tight clusters of 5-15 at a time. They're not incredibly frequent, but regular enough to make cleaning out the notices a bit tedious.

This is at about 30-35 human agents. I noticed at one point that several of them were gathering at a single chest, even though there were several in that general area and I wonder if that could be the problem. I don't know if there's a spatial collision system or something that limits access to a tile/voxel, but if it's something like a vector/flow field or something and that's what's happening, I wonder if adding storage node access or edge/navigation weighting to make more distant chests seem more desirable might help.

If I could only use two mods, I would choose ACE and this one:steamthumbsup:
