Description
Changes from version 1: Added custom set of textures for Surtha Ek - a Star of Chaos on the helmet, maille shirt, and slightly darker hand wraps to differentiate him from the other Marauder Chieftains.

Made the inventory icons to Ice Wolf Chariot and Gorebeast Chariot mounts consistent with the icons on the skill tree. Modified the script that spawns Surtha Ek on campaign start to delete original before spawning the replacement.

Changes Surtha Ek to a Legendary Lord with themed skills to buff chariots, giant, Marauder spearmen, Marauder (Great Weapons) and Marauder Champions (both variants), with trade-offs to upkeep cost increases for "feral" Norscan monster units in his own army. His personal (yellow) skill line is a modified version of the standard melee lord one incorporating the level 1 and 2 devotion skills slotted appropriately - level 3 should still be mutually exclusive and is now unlocked at rank 10.

He starts mounted on the standard Marauder Chariot, and has the options to unlock the Marauder Ice Wolf Chariot mount and the Gorebeast Chariot mount. His starting army is now: 3 Marauder Chariots, 1 Gorebeast Chariot, 2 Marauder Spearmen, and 2 Chaos Marauders (Great Weapons).

Generic Norscan Marauder Chieftain uses a stripped down version of Surtha Ek's skill tree with the addition of the generic Chaos themed missile resistance skill and Wulfrik's old Juggernaut of Sarl buff for mammoth units that is unlocked by picking up the mammoth mount.

Adds a modified Gorebeast Chariots unit to the Shaman building tree, it is affected by all the standard Marauder Chariot buffs.

Adds a modified Chaos Trolls (Armoured) to the Erengrad landmark for Wintertooth, all Troll buffs should apply.

Known issues:
Not be compatible with mods that change the battle_entities_tables for Chaos Chariots, Marauder Ice Wolf Chariots, and Gorebeast Chariots. Surtha Ek can be selected for execution on the defeated lord options when playing as other Norscan factions. Surtha Ek uses the standard horse chariot model on the campaign map regardless of which chariot mount is is on as the wolf and Gorebeast chariots do not have campaign animations.

Screenshots were taken in Traditional Chinese, but the mod has been translated to English, so some texts are not the exact match.

Tested to work with Mega Factions Unlocker.

Special thanks to the Total War Modding website, Aexrael Dex for the general replacement script, Cryswar for the new unit/character guides, and Sebidee for the unit texturing guide.

This is very much a work in progress and will require a lot more play-testing for balancing and to see if all the skills work.

Edit: Added Chaos Warriors Race Pack as DLC requirement and starting army description.

Edit 2: Play-tested! "The True Chariot Master" trait for defeating Settra works on this version of Surtha Ek as well! Though despite being mounted on a chariot, the 100% weapon bonus from defeating Settra does not apply to Surtha Ek himself, this is by design as the buff is applied to the "chariot" unit class, in which he is a "com" (commander) instead. Modifying the unit_set_to_unit_junctions_tables to apply it to him will give him a damage boost, but may have other side effects as the set may be used elsewhere.

There was apparently an unused skill from the original Norsca race pack from WH1 called "Riders of Destruction" that boosts melee attack and melee weapon strength of Marauder Chariot units by 5/10/15, might implement it in version 3.

Currently thinking about adjusting the mount unlock levels to 9 for Ice Wolf Chariot and 18 for Gorebeast Chariot mounts to be in line with other lord's mount options.

I have modified the battle_entities_tables entries for Chaos (Marauder) Chariots, Marauder Ice Wolf Chariots, and Gorebeast Chariots to increase the frequency in which the animal mounts will attack models in melee. This mostly affects fighting against large units, but also increase their effectiveness against infantries a bit.

would love if you added faction effects like worldwide speed or movement range and lesser upkeep cost for riders and chariots or something like that since i really enjoyed the lord

Makes sense! Getting the custom faction description, lord pictures, and starting units to appear on the faction selection screen requires frontend edits for the faction as a whole, those were not changed in this mod, which only spawns the legendary version of Surtha Ek on campaign start to replace the original generic version.

That may be something to do in the future however.

well it doesnt show up other than the minor ai factions flags so when choosing a lord you dont see if the mod is working until you start th egame as it

Thanks for the feedback! The initial thought process behind this mod is to confederate Surtha Ek as the other two playable Norsca factions, so there were no significant changes made to the Vargs faction itself besides the restored voice lines.

How does the Vargs play on its own as a standalone faction through Mixu's unlocker? The faction wide effects Surtha Ek provide should be relatively powerful (the income buffs should apply to all "slavery" buildings), but I have not played too far with them as I am awful at using Norsca in general. I have also read somewhere that speed matters more than charge bonus and weapon damage for chariots on the charge, so these bonuses may also be subjected to changes.

Do the Marauder Chieftains now catch up to the other factions' melee lords in your opinions?

can confirm this works with mixus and some other norsca mods only bad thing about this one seems theres no faction effect and the norsca rites does not work but other than that its great
