Description
"A bolt from the blue."

A cannon sentry gun that fires high-speed explosive rounds.

Check the youtube video to see the full set of build and upgrade animations.

Contains all three levels, including animations for everything from build, firing, disabled, and aiming.

Includes a blueprint model and build menu icon.

Also comes with an optional cantilever toolbox model.

The firing animations actually cycle/reload the shells in the back. However, they don't function that well in-game. I suspect the default sentry has some hard-coded settings for how animations should cycle. This would probably have to be adjusted by the developers.

This sentry was originally part of a set I was planning for the Engineer, which I began back in January of 2015. After a week of prototyping, I didn't feel confident in my design. I shelved the project in hopes of returning to it later. I found it hanging out in my projects folder earlier this year, and decided it was time to give it another shot. It is likely the most ambitious TF2 submission I've ever authored.

The idea of a mortar/artillery is a fairly popular sentry design choice. That, or lasers. I felt the Engineer needed something with some direct long-range flair, so I took a stab at a cannon design.

I wanted to create something that truly felt like it belonged in the TF2 universe. It needed to match the stock sentry gun in terms of silhouette, palette, and profile. It needed to be similar enough to the stock sentry gun that a player would recognize it immediately(and thus their muscle memory would interpret it as a threat), but unique enough that you could tell it apart from stock. I didn't want to reskin the stock sentry gun, but I also didn't want to create something that felt alien to the style, function, and mechanics of the game.

I'm quite proud of the result. I hope you guys like it as well.

After a bit of deliberation, I've decided this will be my last item for Team Fortress 2. It's been a good ride, and I'm glad I ended with a bang. Thanks for commenting and liking my workshop items. Sayonara, friends.
