Description
This mod is a version of my Draft Decision/Spawn Army mod that utilized AI.

This mod has been tested and seems to work ok. I did my best to try to get the numbers right, there may still be balancing issues, so please let me know if there are some needed changes.


This mod adds various decisions to the game. The draft, pay for an army, and remove modifier decisions are available for the AI as well. I tried to lower the rate in which the AI will use it, but this might affect the game in an unexpected way, so please be cautious.

Draft an Army
The Draft an Army Decision (only valid if you are at war) allows the user to draft an army. The army will spawn after two months, and will disband after the war is over. If the war is over before the two months, it should cancel the draft.

The armies use supplies, are maintenance free, and will spawn on your capital. The decision is available every 10 years unless you decide to get a smaller army. You will be able to use the decision if you do it that way. However, when you have a "full" army you will not have any options to select. After 10 years the character flag will go away for each option.

Choosing to draft will put a negative modifier on your counties for 2 years
If you choose to draft when you are defending or in a holy war, your counties will recieve a smaller penalty. The penalty also scales depending on the amount of levies you choose.

The Options
  • You can now choose to spawn from your entire realm, just your own counties, or your vassals counties. Drafting from your vassals will have a temporary negative modifier.
  • You can choose to spawn a massive levy army, equal to the total levies and garrison in the entire realm. Use carefully! Especially if your realm is big!
  • Three quarters the realms total levies and garrison .
  • Half the realms total levies and garrison .
  • A quarter of the realms total levies and garrison .

Pay for an Army
The pay for an army decision (also only valid if you are at war) allows the player to pay for an army. The army will spawn after two months, but you can keep the soldiers permanently.

The armies also use supplies, are maintenance free, and will spawn on your capital. Since they are special soldiers, they do not reinforce.
Currently only vanilla game troop types are available. If you want a patch for another mod let me know. It can take time to do this, but if I have time I will consider. EK2 is under consideration, but I haven't yet done it.

The Options
  • Your first option is to get a basic army. This includes 1000 Pikemen, 2000 Bowmen, 1000 Light Footmen, and 500 Light Horsemen.
  • The rest are men-at-arm types that you have researched so far and are available to your culture.

Remove Modifiers for Counties
If you want to get rid of the negative modifier from the draft, you can pay money to remove it. This option is available when you are no longer at war. The AI also has the decision.

The Options

  • Pay for all of the counties in your realm.
  • Pay only for the counties you hold.

Add Innovation
This option is available when you are no longer at war. If you want to pay gold to get innovations, you can do with this decision. Only innovations in your current era will show up. Currently, you can pay for regional innovations. I haven't figured out how to do regional checks for it to stop from triggering. I may in the future add flavor to this event if I can't figure it out.
You can do a new innovation every 5 years.

Compatibility
This mod doesn't edit any base game files, so it should work with just about everything. I haven't thoroughly tested it yet, but I would be careful with your save if you uninstall it. Since the AI also has the draft and paid army decisions, removing the mod might make the save crash. It also adds a modifier for your counties which will most likely be incompatible with uninstallation. It is not be ironman compatible.

Future Additions
  • Fine tune the numbers, costs, and AI.
  • Add a modifier for training paid troops. at the end of the modifier, the troops are available
  • Maybe add regional innovations. (done, but they are available to everyone as well, I haven't figured out how to do regional checks.)
  • Ability to add positive modifiers to counties instead of just removing bad ones.
  • While the mod does have some sound added, when paradox allows more event sound customization, I hope to add different sounds when the event comes up.

This mod is now updated for the new update. Please let me know if you have any issues! I don't have the new dlc yet, so any innovations or troops they added won't yet be in this mod. Otherwise, it should work fine now.

@Sculptor I'll try to take a look soon, but this mod just uses a function that spawns an army, which is in the base code and from what I understand is used to various events and such. I would be surprised if that part of the mod broke since so many other parts of the base game would break. I haven't played the game in a little while so I'm not sure of any major changes. I''ll try to test it soon so I can see whats going on. I wiped my computer recently so I need to transfer the mod files back to update, so an update to this mod won't be right away. Since I see people are using it though I will try to do that sooner than later!

This might be a consequence of not being updated for almost a year, but when I disband a paid army, the soldiers remain in the 'rally forces' numbers from that point on. Was that the intention? An indefinite veteran reserves roster? Or is it a glitch? Seems to function as of scythe 4/24 otherwise.

@TeleportBehindYou I suppose you could if you really wanted. If you really had that much money it would be possible, but you still have to wait 5 years between each innovation. I could make the price higher and the wait time longer for this pro version if its feeling too cheaty. But otherwise if you don't want to progress so fast avoid using the feature. In the future I might turn it into an event the player has to go through, since that might make it more interesting.

So if you have lots of money, you can just get all innovations 100 years before the next era? Can you add an option to disable that?
