Tatooine

Description
A map of Tatooine based on the book Star Wars: Complete Locations, which is part of DK Publishing's Inside the Worlds of Star Wars series and covers all of the Star Wars films.

Since Tatooine is pretty much one giant desert, you might want to use civilizations that would not be too hindered by this, as well as changing the game pace due to low yields.

Do not play this like any other map. A full desert is map is practically a starvation fest if you don't know what you're doing.

I had to assign starting locations to the map as full desert or snow maps glitch out if they have none.
Unfortunately, and it's a shame that this has yet to be fixed, players in the same slot (if you're always host or always the second to join, etc.) always start in the same spot.
This will happen with any other maps you have downloaded in which the map maker has set various starting locations for the Civilizations.

To play with true randomized locations you might want to use this mod:

If you're struggling with this map, try opening up the file on Worldbuilder and adding in a few rivers and flood plains in the gorges.

If you want to play it multiplayer, you and the other players have to install the map manually.

Multiplayer:
You can make the map appear in regular Single Player and Multiplayer by putting it in the main game files.
You do this by copying the .civ5map file found in Documents > my games > Sid Meiers Civilization V > MODS
and placing it inside
C: > Program Files > Steam > Steamapps > Common > Sid Meiers Civilization V > assets > maps.
This will work with ANY Workshop Map. (Not mods or scenarios.)

Yep, that worked for me. I added start positions to the map myself, and now I can run it fine. I even have a bunch of other mods running with it. BTW, Morrocco is not the power house on this map... its the Inca! Their terrace farm on any area with mountain-laced hills, that's where its at :)

So I am having the same issue, instant-defeat screen. I decided to try to go to the map file itself, and from what I could tell, it doesn't have pre-assigned start positions, as the descriptions says it does. Maybe that is the reason that issue is cropping up? I'm gonna try to adjust the file so see if that was the ssue. (I could be wrong, as I am not super familiar with the map editor and all that.)
