Active Sonar (STW)

Description
Active Sonar for STW
An active sonar designed for STW use.

A sonar uses sound to detect underwater targets and find the bearing towards them in hopes of finding enemy submarines and other vessels.

Setup
The Sonar, MC, and console for using it are all set up already. Feel free to modify it in any way to make it more accurate to your creation.

There are a few outputs on the instrument panels:
  • Target found Activates while pinging and it finds a target
  • Direction Shows your current direction
  • Pinging Activates while pinging
  • Interference Based on return strength, decorative mostly
  • Return time Time to reach the target (Based on velocity of sound underwater)
  • Return Strength Signal strength
  • Elevation past -0.35 Activates when the found target is below you by -0.35 turns or more
  • Elevation past -0.2 Activates when the found target is below you by -0.2 turns or more

There is a breaker for hooking up electricity, make sure to connect your input electricity to the A input on the breaker, so that the sonar does not passively drain electricity.

Besides these inputs, you will need to do customisation on your own, as it has no built in settings on the MC.
For changing color and stuff on the display you will need to edit the LUA code.

this worked wonders for my submarine, all i had to do was flip it upside down and connect up electricity! it detected everything well and worked fine. :steamhappy:

the speed of sound underwater is 1500m/s, so multiplying the return time with 1500m/s should give the range, (unless i accidentally messed up the functions inside the MC)

sorry for being a bother, but what exactly do i have to do to find the range of the contact? im following the notes but its always off. thanks for the help!
