Menu Background Collection Rotation

In 1 collection by Axolotl
V2.8- and File-Compatible Mods (desync sensitive)
5 items
Description
This mod changes only the background scenario of the menu. It should be compatible with and without the "Tales of the Dragon" DLC. It should also be compatible with most other menu mods, as long as its priority is higher.

There are 10 background scenarios in this mod, one of which is randomly chosen every time the game is started: Four of these are only slightly updated versions of the original background scenarios by Ensemble Studios as seen in earlier editions of AoM, two of them are improved original scenarios, and four background scenarios are completely new.

If you the same main menu look as you can see in the screenshot, subscribe also to other mod I made:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2664910507
The mods are perfectly compatible (the priority order doesn't matter), since they change separate files.

There aren't any big battles in any of the background scenarios going on. So the background is always relatively quiet and not CPU intensive, unlike some other background scenario mods, where there is loud fighting or a lot of units accumulate over time.

The intro company logos are also skipped in order to speed up the start of the game.

To make the random rotation of different background scenarios happen a user.cfg is created. This marks this mod as desync sensitive, although it is a sole aesthetic mod only changing the menu background and absolutely nothing in-game. However, if you really don't want a desync sensitive mod and are alright with only one background scenario check out my other mod:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2664910507

This mod is fairly simple and it is easy to customize the user.cfg to include or exclude background scenarios.

Leave a comment, if you know how to remove the ring cloud around the camera view in the scenario editor. In this mod some backgrounds have the cloud and some do not. However, it would be nice to release two additional mods: one where all the background scenarios of it have the cloud and one where none has it.

Valeu muito a pena :steamhappy:

@Elysium Unfortunately, in order to have a rotation of multiple different background scenarios happen a user.cfg required, which marks the mod desync sensitive although nothing is changed in-game. If desync sensitivity is an issue you can only have one custom background.

Really nice mod but cannot be used for online play unless other players ahve it, any chance to have it with no synch sensitive??, thank you so much, beauty of work.

Sorry, I am afraid it has been quite a while since I played the titan expansion version of the game and I don't remember that. I am glad you enjoy the mod.

Oh!!! Very cool. I have to be honest I don't remember the titan fighting one. You think I would, because that's a highly impressionable background. xD
I was thinking of the cinematic shot, when they escaped Atlantis as they saw it 'sink' during the Tridant campaign, the second to last mission. Idk why, but I thought that they gave you a background with them floating in the water observing Atlantis? I could be wrong :P

I appreciate you getting back to me, and sending the links to the screenshots.

Thanks again for the mod; it's definitely a must have! :steamhappy:

@Alaric Do you mean this background?

It seems quite far zoomed in at would probably not look good on widescreen monitors with high resolution. Also the camera angle is different and it wouldn't fit very well to the other backgrounds. But if someone edits it, so it looks nice and fits in, then I will include it.

I also removed the atlantis2 background, because the titan fighting was quite distracting:

Hello! First, I love this, and I thank you for it. Secondly, isn't there more randoms that the old games used to have? I could have sworn there were at least... one or two more? Such as one where you could get that overlooks Atlantis when you beat the first campaign?

Anyways, thanks! :steamhappy:
