After the initial disappointment that all the new simple weapons we got back in the day were boring cookie cutter WW2 additions, I started work on making some additions of my own inspired by cooler contemporary weapon systems.

This mod adopts a different aproach than other simple weapon mods: the actual weapon blocks themselves are barebones barrels with no extras, and you have the freedom the mimic whatever you want around them. The subobjects seen in the screenshots are loosely modelled after the real gun systems, and are a seperate download. The final screenshot shows a customised turret system that is scratch-build, and demonstrates the possibilities of making your own setup. With the recent addition of decorations it should be easier than ever to simulate your perfect remote operated weapon turret.

Building your own weapons with the blocks the game gives you is also a good way to maintain visual coherence within a vessel, contrary to some other simple weapon mods.

Several of many weapons included in this mod are:

1. A large selection of CIWS emplacements in both simple and custom shell variants. This includes the GM-25 Sea Zenith, the FABA Meroka, the AK 630 m-2, Thales Goalkeeper, and others.
   
2. Several small simple and custom shell weapon machine cannons.
   
3. A selection of larger weapons such as the French Modele 68 CADAM, US 5 inch gun and AK 130 emplacement

Subscribe to this mod, and use the modding workshop button under the content tab in the main menu to find subscribed mods. Install the mod from there. If you accidentally re-upload this mod, be sure to delete it from the workshop to prevent clutter and accusations of plagiarism.

The larger and more powerful gun systems are designed on purpose to be a viable substitute for a full APS setup on smaller ships. As such, these weapons are both deadly and super-expensive. It is advised to only use these turrets and weapons on selected hardpoints instead of simply spamming them. This mod is balanced around restraint and my personal feeling of fun, fairness and ship design ethos.

This mod was designed originally for my personal use in From the Depths version 2.5.2 where I mostly hang out nowadays. This mod should however be compatible with newer game versions as it does not use a plugin. This might mean that the overall mod balance might also feel slightly 'off' considering how the game has changed the past year and a half.
