Curious Trait 3.8

Description
Now rebuilt for 3.8

This mod adds the new species trait Curious for use on any biological or lithoid species. It isn't terribly powerful, but it only costs 1 and is a fun flavor trait. Curious adds bonuses to leaders of the species and nothing else. This lets this mod also serve as a nice example for other mod makers to use if they want to build such a trait too. Importantly, Curious is completely conflict-free. You can add this regardless of what other mods you use.
  • Admirals gain +1 Sensor range and 5% evasion.
  • Generals get +10% morale damage and -33% collateral damage.
  • Governors provide +1% resources from jobs.
  • Scientists have +1 all research monthly and +10% anomaly discovery chance.
  • Rulers give +5% experience to all leaders.
This is a series of fairly weak effects, but they're fun and the sum total of them should be worth a point.

By request, the Dreambot trait is also available for robots and machines. It's functionally identical to Curious.

I highly recommend Simple Additional Traits by G_S_Palmer. It is another small, but well-balanced trait pack. I realize it says 3.2, but it still works just fine on the current game version.

+10% Anomaly Discovery Chance is quite powerful, since it adds up.

I've rebuilt this for 3.8. I added a touch of evasion for admirals, reduced leader experience, and switched Scientists to a small flat bonus like similar effects from other leader traits, but way smaller. Icons were updated for the way leader traits are rebuilt.

Wow, I hope it will get updated for paragons, that's quite an original trait

By request, this is now available for robots and machines. Their version is called Dreambot, and its description has a Philip K. Dick reference.

I tried hard to balance this as just 1 point, making it useful but not too strong. The General and Admiral bonuses are pretty much negligible, honestly. The governor bonus is essentially 1/5 of Thrifty, and the Ruler bonus mostly 1/5 of Quick Learners (ruler itself gets more, but ruler levels don't do much anyway). 5% on the scientist isn't exactly the same as half of Intelligent, but that's the closest approximation. Late-game scientists can't stack as many bonuses as jobs, so a bonus on the scientist ends up stronger later.

Thrifty and Intelligent are 2-point traits. Although 5% on the scientist is far from "exceedingly powerful," I do agree that it might be a bit too strong for this to be balanced as 1 point. I'll drop it to 2% to match the general "1/5 of another trait" thing I was doing.

'fairly weak effects'

The scientist's trait is exceedingly powerful, especially if it spawns in tandem with Spark of Genius.
