[SP/WIP] Final Goodnight v.9

Description
Take the role of a Nightstalker pilot in this immersive Combat Air Support mission. Support a BLUFOR assault on an OPFOR installation, engaging targets as they're assigned to you - and then participate on an artillery interdiction mission.

IMPORTANT
Development of this mission is currently delayed while I'm on holiday, I'll continue adding features and fixing bugs as soon as I have access to a computer capable of running ArmA again.

Introduction
There are plenty of helicopter missions available in the workshop, but I really wanted something a little bit different for this one. Where most strive to put you on rails and run you though a shooting gallery of targets while playing pumping music in the background, I created this mission to do quite the opposite.

My primary goal with this mission was to create something where you'd get the chance to experience the technical aspects of CAS - the 9-lines, constantly evolving situations on the ground and the need for vigilance - in a package that would remain accessible for most of the casual pilots out there.

Background
Two fireteams, Quebec 2-1 and Quebec 2-2 have been tasked with taking Facility 69 - an enemy military research base thought to be the home to their WMD program. This is a first strike mission, and they should have the element of surprise, in addition to this ElInt has reported no heavy enemy weapons systems in place - with only the standing garrison to worry about.

Nonetheless, Dragon 1-1 (that's you) has been tasked with providing Combat Air Support to assist in the execution of the mission. Your primary task will be the supression of fixed emplacements like bunkers and watchtowers overlooking the approaches to the facility, however you may be called upon to handle other dynamic threats as they become known.

Features
- Accurate Radio Protocol See how actual CAS is requested, with 9-lines being read and confirmed. Remarks on weapons and targets, dangers in the area and the locations of friendlies.
- Constantly Evolving Situations Watch as a simple mission quickly becomes far more complex as new threats are introduced and decisions are made to mitigate their effects.
- Accessible You don't need to be an ex-army pilot to be able to enjoy the mission. Just jump in and have fun!

Work In Progress
I know it's short, it's still a work in progress and I certainly intend on adding more to the mission as I get time. I know a lot of you have some great ideas for fun missions (convoy support/attack is one of the more popular ones) but in this case I'd like to do something a little bit different. If you've got ideas that lean more towards the realistic (but still fun) side of things, please feel free to post comments - I read them all, even if I don't reply.
I'd also like to ask for a bit of help doing voice overs for much of the radio chatter, since it's something which contributes massively to the immersion that players experience when playing the mission. Leave a comment if you're interested in helping out with it.

Have to agree with Private Pecker here, very good mission. Good challenge too. Took me a good number of reloads to save both the friendlies and the helo =)

This is an extremely well done mission its simple realistic and not over the top. Probably the first well done heli mission ive see in Arma besides the stock one

Batman, I like your idea for a rescue helicopter but keep in mind that the flight from the base to the compound and back (which the rescue helicopter would likely need to take) is an extremely long flight. Coupled with the need to grab a new AH-9 and fly back, it makes the idea of being able to continue assisting in the operation rather unrealistic. I'd like to implement a SAR helicopter if you do happen to get shot down, in which case you can perhaps have a SE(RE) sub-mission which determines whether you still succeed (if you managed to escape the search parties and get to the evac helicopter). You can also take a look at a version of the infantry perspective of this mission in my Cold Winter Night mission, it's currently 2-player co-op but I'm sure I could add additional player slots if you'd like (once I'm back from holiday).

Hi Jester2-9, I've also noticed that issue but for some reason despite my attempts at disabling the functionality until it could be implemented in a better manner (which worked in the Editor) it appears that posting the updated mission to the Steam Workshop failed. For whatever reason, changes don't appear to be propagating.

And maybe some sort of mechanic for when/if you get shot down... like a rescue chopper to take you back to get a new Pawnee
qikaz 12 Jun, 2014 @ 1:33pm
Any chance you can add a few more Pawnees to make this COOP (at least 3 players) I play with a few friends and this would be a really fun mission for us if only there were enough helicopters for all of us.... or maybe make an infantry slot playable as well? Just some suggestions...

It's fun. But I cna't beat it. I see tons of green lasers on the ground which indicates to me that friendly forces are up and moving but the second I get the update about squirters rolling SW Quebec indicates they have suffered heavy casualities and are combat ineffective. Not sure what the FAIL threshold is but it seems rather low given that there were only about 3-4 foot mobiles engaging friendly troops.
