The 44th "Sigma" were an experimental unit specialized in testing new equipment. They were assigned as assistants to various battalions in the Grand Army, ones that suited the tests that they were currently carrying out.

One such weapon was the DC-55AXP, created by the Sigma Cauldron Metalworks in cooperation with BlasTech. The rifle's main use would be as a CQB weapon, with a high fire rate and good stopping power. The gun however, due to its energy output, frequently overheated and was hard to control, therefore it was classified as best suited for urban combat. The weapon could also charge up to deliver one high powered shot, however this used up all remaining gas from the magazine.

The Sigma Cauldron Metalworks SCM-T3 armor set, is a set of clone armor designed with marksmanship in mind. The special helmet has an array of sensors, including a thermal visor, EM scanner and an enhanced environment awareness module. This armor set was designed to be light and quiet, with special foot padding and noise reduction systems. It was used by the 44th "Sigma" experimental unit for field tests which often included recon and clandestine operations.
