Danger Moodles (Deadly Infections)

Description
This mod expands on the Moodle functions to provide a more realistic challenge to wound infections. (does not effect zombie infection)

NEW VERSION 2.0 rewrites how the mod works for better performance. Also included is a new Sandbox option called "Sleep Regen" that will heal the player generously while sleeping. This option is enabled by default and prevents player characters from dying in their sleep due to fever, pain, or starvation.

Wound infections actually need to be maintained. If the wound isn't dressed properly it will get infected. An infected wound or dirty bandages on an unhealed wound will make you sick, eventually giving you a fever. A fever will either kill you or get you killed if you do not treat it properly.

HOW DEADLY INFECTION WORKS:
- Whenever a player character is wounded and that wound becomes infected (not zombie infected) they will begin stacking sickness.
- If a player character is wearing a dirty bandage on a wound that has not finished healing then that wound will take longer to heal.
- If a player character is wearing a dirty bandage on a wound that has not finished healing and the character is recovering from an infection sickness then the sickness will heal slower.
- If a player character is wearing a dirty bandage on a wound that has not finished healing then there is a chance that wound will become infected (not zombie infected).
- If a player character is wearing dirty bandages on a wound that has not yet healed then they will start to get sick.
- Any single wound can only become infected once. This is a result of the game's base code and not an effect of the mod itself. (Note: when a wounded body part like an arm or leg recieves another wound on top of the previous wound, the game's base code will write the newest wound over the older wound. That newer wound can get infected even if the older wound was treated.)
- Remember that bandage lifespans and effectiveness are better with higher levels of First Aid. With this mod, medic type characters are even more worthwhile.
- Remember that Disinfectant and Alcohol Wipes and the like can disinfect a single wound while eating Antibiotics will disinfect all bodily wounds together at one time.

***All "Danger Moodle" mods work in build 40/41 and are multiplayer compatible.

***All "Danger Moodle" mods can be added or removed to an already started game safely.

thank you for making this work on build 40

Having issues with More Traits as well. The Injured trait never has the wounds heal, as far as this mod is concerned. Even with all the wounds completely disinfected and bandaged via sterilized bandages, you will rapidly gain a fever no matter what you do until you die.

Just a suggestion for this based off of irl experience with HS, HS triggers infections that needs to be treated with antibiotics or lancing, but that's not the suggestion: the suggestion is that I've been able to go a week trying to treat a skin infection on my own many times before I end up needing to go to the ER. As this mod stands, infections kill you in about 2.5 days. I'd say boost that time limit up 4 days max, maybe. I play CDDA a lot so I've been timing it between getting an infection from the glass injury and death, and it's too quick to be realistic, but again that's just based on my irl experience with, sadly, a disability that causes infections every month haha. Sorry for the tmi!

thank you for making this. infections arent harmless at all in this game, which is not realistic whatsoever.

Did that ever get patched?

@Juliett - Injured from the More Traits mod? Thanks for the report. I'll write a compatibility patch as soon as I can.

I started with injured from more traits. I changed all my bandages as soon as they got dirty and none of them got infected and yet I still progressed from healthy to dead in a few hours.

Version 2.0 Update:
- Total rewrite of mod code for better performance.
- Slower onset of fever due to infection.
- Sandbox option for "Sleep Regen" heals the player generously while sleeping. This option is enabled by default and prevents player characters from dying in their sleep due to fever, pain, or starvation.

mod seems sus. We get sick and die seemingly no matter what. Stepped on a stick in the woods? dead in a few days. Cut open by a broken window? dead in a few days. And we are very diligent on keeping the wounds and bandage clean. Had to remove this mod.

Say, is "Trait" for the start even possible to survive?
I have no idea what is wrong, I have my bandages all clear and I always change them.

Yet I always die from causes absolutely unknown to me.

I can do anything do try and stop it, anti-biotics, desinfectants, sterilized rags, anything.
But nah, I always live for like 18 hours and then drop dead on the floor in an instant.
