Worker Cooperatives (OUTDATED)

Description
*WILL NO LONGER BE UPDATED*
Check out my new mod: Cooperative Commonwealth. It is a massive expansion of this mod.

Worker cooperatives are an organization of business in which every worker is a collective owner of the business. Since the workers are all owners of the business this is wildly popular with socialists and trade unionists.

So, @jears454 , are you going change the name to this mod to have that it's outdated?

Awesome!

Hi everyone. I made a new big cooperative mod called Cooperative Commonwealth. It has a bunch of different worker cooperative policies targeting specific industries.

While some Capitalists are okay with worker cooperatives, most are opposed to them as they go against the Capitalist principal of private property and inherent exploitation of the worker. This is why it is hard for cooperatives to get capital from banks and other investors to start up. If they were ever to become popular enough to serve as a competition to traditional businesses, Capitalist would do everything to destroy them.

I agree with Stalin, like the only Co-ops in my area are only kindergartens, so it's make sense to split them up. As well, it could work as an alternative to nationalizing industry Because I know a there are socialist who aren't cool with state industry

I also was looking around, and for the most part, capitalist don't care about co-ops. So, it would make sense, because this one is corrupted, you'd need to make another mod , to have it so the capitalist don't care until it's a very high amount.

@BigDaddyStalin I might try and do that soon. The files I used for this mod were corrupted so I am unable to update it. I want to make a broader "socialism/social democracy" mod but that will take some time to figure out.

I'd separate this into multiple policies. In Australia, the majority of farmland is made up of farmers cooperatives or farmers unions and all the agricultural distribution is cooperative as well, that being said, while Australian agriculture is incredibly efficient, it has no effect on union membership or socialism capitalist percentage etc. It's just the workers, are also the owners which is effectively just a franchise.

Production cooperatives are a different story though. In Australia there are cooperatives like Industrial Hemp, ship builders' and doctors cooperatives where you'd be hard pressed to find a non-trade unionist. Once again though, capitalistic Australians don't really mind it.

I hoped this was for irony, but you all genuinely believe this is a good idea for the real world. Wtf lol

@Attache, no as there are external shareholders in stakeholder capitalism. Only the workers own the business as it is a one worker, one share type of system. Think of cooperatives as a business in which only the workers have a stake in the company/corporation. You cannot buy or sell shares in the company and, once you leave the company, you no longer have a stake in it.

@Conorc16 the reason I have the mod heavily decrease corporate exodus is because I drew inspiration from Jeremy Corbyn's proposal for a cooperative economy. He proposed that any company that shuts down, leaves the country, goes public, or sells itself it must give the workers the right of first refusal. This would essentially end corporate exodus as the company would be transitioned to the hands of the workers.
