Avalon Industrial Survey Ships (with gravity drive technology)

Description
Feel free to fiddle with the design and share with me (I'm also interested in any new configurations people come up with.

Included in this package:
Avalon IS Industrial Survey Ship.
Avalon IS-X Industrial Survey Ship with experimental gravity drives.
Avalon AC-X which includes the gravity drive and three suggested weapon configurations. **Careful with the missile versions!**
As a bonus, I've also included a copy of my proof of concept Hermes class gravity ship. The ship features outboard nacelles that house the gravity drives and has twice the acceleration from the base system.

These are small corvette sized craft, equipped for survey, mining and industrial work and ready to be used in survival mode. The Avalon class ships are small enough to fit into the large opening of asteroids on some maps. Several ships are equipped with prototype gravity drives that give a boost to acceleration or deceleration when the system is turned on. Unlike other gravity drive systems, this is a simple design made to be switched on and off in the control panel by the ship's crew. I've also balanced the gravity drives so that the acceleration does not pitch the nose up or down when it is being used, requiring no pilot correction whilst under acceleration.

Note on gravity drive use: To receive the full benefit of the gravity drive's acceleration, you must first switch the Grav system on then turn off your inertial dampeners. Thruster control for the gravity drive is now controled by a control group using the acceleration sliders. Please make sure you are out of any other gravity fields before you switch the system on, otherwise the artificial mass in the drive will be affected.

Change note 02.08.14
1. Removed the weaponized version of the ship. A military version can be found in the Broadsword Assault Transport ship pack. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=287728277

Change note 16.07.14:
1. I've refined the gravity drive to now be controlled with the acceleration slider in a control group. You'll now experience an even bigger boost to acceleration when using the gravity drive. Reverse is also possible using the same slider.
2. I've also added some suggested weapon configurations to the AC-X version of the ship. Space Engineers is still a bit dodgy with missiles so use caution when playing with those configurations. These are all pod mounted for ease of access and to limit damage to the ship should the missile system go awry.

Excellent ship!

I am glad you were able to find them! ^.^

I've tried un-subbing, starting and exiting the game, and re-subbing, still start in the middle of nowhere. However, by pure luck and determination (and those helpful ship beacons) I was able to locate the ships. They are magnificent. Thank you so much.

I've re-published the design after saving it under the new version. Let me know if that fixed the spawn problem for you.

The latest update has messed up the spawn points for maps. Anyone know how to get to the ship now? I'd really like to try this out.

An excellent design, great handling and acceleration from the main engines, honestly I feel like there was no need for a gravity drive (maybe survival if you're just flying out into the middle of nowhere haha). Anyways I love it!

A note about the gravity drive: I've purposely kept the footprint of the gravity generators to a minimum to make the ship friendly to other vessels that may have artificial mass units installed. You can effectively increase the acceleration of the system without adding more components by tuning the gravity fields of each generator to encompass the artificial mass on the opposite wing. Your gravity footprint will be larger but you will get more from the drive with no increase in mass and a small increase in power consumption.

I'll check out your design and see what I can do. I never tried instant max accelleration except with a stationary gravity accellerator I made once for fun. The problem I found with that kind of acceleration is that it applies torque and your ship yaws really bad at first. I wiped out my gravity accelerator and my ship a few times learning that little bit. =)

I love the design and advantage in acceleration of you re ship
I was wondering if you can install the same drive on my ship witch is inspired from youres
I ve tried to do it myself for 8 continuous hours but i cant seem to balance it out
Idealy the drinve woulde be on the wings under the engines and deliver instant max speed

Thank you for considering my request
Cheers

Randomly skimming through the workshop and had to check this out, Its very imperssive!
