is a Dune Inspired Mod that adds a new origin, based around Zro and a short event chain for any of those who wish for a psionic feel!

The Origin Contents
  • Preset Starting System
  • Pops require Zro Upkeep and lose happiness if there is a Zro deficit
  • Origin-only Main species trait
  • Two Minor Archaeology Sites
  • Probably Plenty of Scary Edge-cases
  • Possibility to rush Psionic Ascension
  • Accidentally forces a tall playstyle
  • Zro consuming building which produces exotic gases if any empire has Zro Distillation and the Exotic Gases exploitation tech.

Any feedback is welcome, i will try to keep this mod up to date.

This Mod no longer overwrites the file 00_social_classes.txt, this is to allow better compatibility.

Thanks to the Stellaris Modding Den for help.
This mod has been tested with a completely vanilla Stellaris, no paid DLC. So if you own paid DLC and an issue arises. I apologize and will try to fix the issue if you help.

the pop zro upkeep species trait gives a multiplicative malus when it should be additive to actually function

Not a bad solution... that might work

also yeah i think the way the new pops work would require buffing some zro production buffs to be the same maybe

guess an alternative that maybe is not that bad is a constant situation that eats your zro and scales off the pops with the trait maybe

Yeah I thought the zro upkeep was a really cool, good sort of challenge. It made me play the game in a very different way then I usually do. I thought I remember the zro output for the pop jobs being a lot higher then it is now, but I may be mistaken. I don't remember having too many issues with deficits but I may not have gotten far enough for it to be an issue. Without the upkeep it feels a little too easy I guess, when you can rapidly terraform planets and the unique jobs only take 3-5 pops to fill, when most jobs use around 100 pops to do the job of 1 pop from the previous stellaris update.

It is unfortunate it would cause conflicts to add back in though. I usually only use a few mods (usually centered around a particular theme) at a time so I had no idea. You guys should do whatever you think is best for the mod and have the time and effort for.

Well, we can add upkeeps to pops, it hasn't changed. Just it'll conflict with Ethics & Civics or any mod that adjusts pop-upkeep categories

Wish there was some way to facilitate a demand for zro without it being a pop-upkeep

yeah honestly no idea how i'd add the upkeep to the pops now, i remember it kinda being a bit annoying to implement. Also the jobs gave like a very little amount since that was supposed to be the main challenge, kinda, modifier stacking to increase zro-production kinda but i can understand that it might just be more annoying.

Although perhaps some jobs can have Zro upkeep to give it that feel for a need for more zro

The only reason upkeep was disabled was to make it better compatible with other mods. Pop Categories is a pretty big thing to overwrite. It's cool, but it comes at the cost of mod conflicts depending on load order

So I played the mod before the 4.0 stellaris update, and it works a bit differently now from what I can tell. Pops don't seem to have any appreciable zro upkeep, which is oddly kinda okay since the zro refiner jobs spawned by the worms and sandtrouts don't give much of any zro. Those are the two main things, but there's a few other things like the unique trait giving +2 leader level cap.

If you're busy, I totally understand, but it would be really cool to play the mod in a state closer to how it used to be. Love the mod, and appreciate the work you've already done to preserve it.
