Fencer

Description
Adept duelist, expert of dodge, block, and parry.

Status
Description
Parry
Stun immunity. Reduce next melee attack (or ranged attack) damage by 90%. Afterwards, follow up with a counter with your held weapon, dealing 130% damage and inflicting additional damage or status effects depending on weapon type. After parrying, +100% Accuracy until the end of your next turn.
Cautious
+25% Physical Evasion and +8% Magical Resistance. -2 Physical and Magical Attack. Cured by Stun, Sleep, or Blind.

Ability
Description
Parry
Prepare to Parry until the start of your next turn. Reduces damage of the next melee or ranged attack (if rank 2) against you by 90% and counterattack, inflicting additional damage or status effects depending on your held weapon. Can't use with any passive counters. Can't be used again for 50 TTA.
Lunge
Step forward and make a lunging attack with your blade weapon, hitting 4 tiles in a line for lower damage. Adjacent target's Physical Defense is ignored.
Feint
Make an attack for lower damage and accuracy. Then follow up with an inaccurate, but powerful strike that deals 120% damage. A target hit by a feint will become Cautious. Can't be used again for 35 TTA.
Engarde
Gain +4 Physical Defense, Physical Evasion equal to your weapon skills (excluding Shield), and Shield skill equal to the skill of your held weapon type (excluding Shield) until the end of your next turn. This does not consume an action in combat, but can't be reused for 99 TTA.
Fury
Make a rapid melee attack for 40% damage and low accuracy and make additional attacks with increasing accuracy for every certain amount of your Physical Evasion (up to 12 attacks). Consecutive attacks do not apply weapon effects. Can't be used again for 99 TTA.

Passive
Description
Dualing Duelist
At the end of your turn, gain Physical Evasion and Magical Resistance equal to your offhand's weapon damage until the end of your next turn.
Offensive Stance
+1 Physical and Magical Attack. At the start of your turn, gain an additional Physical and Magical Attack for every 20% of your Physical Evasion and Magical Resistance respectively (to a maximum of +5). (Can't use with other stances.)
Defensive Stance
+1 Physical and Magical Defense. At the start of your turn, gain an additional Physical and Magical Defense for every 20% of your Physical Evasion and Magical Resistance respectively (to a maximum of +5). (Can't use with other stances.)
Evasive Stance
-2 Physical and Magical Defense. At the start of your turn, gain +5 Physical Evasion and +2 Magical Resistance per Sword Skill and +2 Physical Evasion per any other melee weapon skill. (Can't use with other stances.)
Leaning Reach
Swords hit one extra tile further for half damage.

Used this for a while in my latest playthrough; though that character eventually ended up as an Ignis Knight.

One slight thing I'll note about it is that it works fine on greatswords, and I kept Leaning Reach as a passive all game for a permanent T shape AoE.

This in undeniably awesome, but I'm not sure a fencer in the traditional is supposed to do that (lol), and as you might expect, a Feint with a Laser Greatsword with a Thunder Trigger is still really strong and was occasionally used as a nice combat opener by me when Lightning from my captain wasn't appropriate.

Updated. Buffed parry, nerfed Feint, fixed stuff. :)

This is an extremely cool class that finally makes rapiers feel worth using but Feint seems far too strong. Throwing a weapon enchant on my modestly geared Fencer caused them to reliably hit for ~35 damage even if the strong followup missed. The Cautious status never really came into play because if the followup hit they were almost certainly dead.

Other than that it's one of my new favorites. Engarde + Fury is very satisfying to pull off and all the passives are worth considering for various builds.

Evasive Stance applies PhysEva at the start of the actor's turn. You won't see it being applied out of combat.

evasive stance seems to lower defences but evasion doesn't go up.
