Description
Astro's Stellaris Overhaul - Space Exploration
This mod is intended to make exploring space more fun and interesting, and maybe also a little more mysterious.
Note: Should be compatible with virtually any other mod that doesn't edit vanilla anomaly/precursor events or mess with vanilla sensor game rules.
Recent Updates
- Updated for 3.13.x compatibility
- Removed the Space Storms event since now we have Cosmic Storms.
Feature Summary
  • New Precursor - the Xel'Naga (from the Starcraft universe)
  • Removed the null spawn chance from anomalies, so they have a higher chance of happening at least once.
  • The AI will research precursor anomalies now (and may beat you to the precursor homeworld!).
  • Takes longer to survey celestial bodies.
  • Planet hyperlane detection range decreased by 1.
  • First Contact time increased.
  • Space monsters more likely to wander, and more likely to wander farther.
  • Takes longer to research anomalies.
  • Higher chance of finding anomalies.
  • The following celestial bodies now also block sensors:
    -- Wormholes
    -- Neutron Stars
    -- Pulsars
    -- Black Holes
  • You can now get multiple precursor event chains simultaneously (and so can the AI!).
  • Observation station events are more likely to happen.
  • Made the unexplored part of space (terra incognita) darker, so you can't see all of the stars until you can see the hyperlanes to them.
  • Added new anomalies.
  • AI can now potentially get the Rubricator anomaly.
  • Added a Precursor catch-up event for AI so that the player is less likely to complete multiple precursors.
Vanilla Overwrites
  • common/anomalies/*.txt: Many anomalies
  • common/defines/00_defines.txt: Some defines
  • common/game_rules/00_rules.txt: the sensor blocking game_rule
  • events/various: precursor and observation events.
  • gfx/FX/terra_incognita.fxh

not sure yet; i will probably update my mods if and only if they get performance back to at least what it was pre-4.0. It's not fun to play right now with all of the performance issues.

does this work in 4.0?

It doesn't for me, so it must be a conflict with another mod :)

In my game this mod causes most empire borders to be invisible. I fixed it by deleting the FX folder. Very possible it's a conflict with another mod, but I didnt investigate further.

Once the update is live, it will have direct support by the Merger of Rules, adding cross-mod integration with Ariphaos Sensor Expansion and Wild Space.

Thanks!

done, and added to all of my other mods as well.

Hi, can you please add a scripted trigger to allow the detection of your mod?
has_aso_space_exploration = { always = yes }
Thanks!

seems to be working now, thanks for the fix!
