There's been a problem since time immemorial where Middle Block Snapping and some units of Grid Spacing on Local Snapping will not allow a turret to snap to the mid point of a sloped surface, even though it looks visually like the turret should fit. I think this is a long time bug that Boxelware did not fix yet.
Meanwhile, I have been updating all of my publications with a table of info showing what Grid Spacing I have used for each size turret or hardpoint. Since 2020, all of my designs should share the same dimensions for turret edge base blocks for each size hardpoint, so the settings I have posted on this page should work for all of my other designs as well.
Hope this is helpful.
