MSG EDL D01-152

Description
--Description—

The MSG EDL D01-152 is a highly efficient diesel-electric locomotive for Stormworks Carrer mode. Depending on different values like load and average speed it can make the ~100km journey from the southern islands to the arctic without refueling while driving well over 200kph, its top-speed without carriages is around 285 kph.

--Driving Instructions--

---Getting Started
To start the locomotive, make sure the cockpit you are sitting in is „in control“. Press the button to the left of your seat to do that.
Then press the Master key on the left side oft he main console to start the generator as well as all other systems.
Select your driving direction on the right side of the main console. This will automatically activate the signal-lighting on the front and rear oft he train as well.
Put increase throttle using the left lever and disengage the brakes using the right one. You can use the W/S keys as well, however this is much less precise.

---Emergency Brakes
These are located on the right wall next to both cockpit seats. They can be engaged on all locomotives and carriages and will set all brakes to 1, overriding even the anti-lock system of the regular brakes. That is why they are not suited to come to a stop as quickly as possible and should only be used if engaging the regular brakes is not possible.
To disengage the emergency brakes press the top button and hold it for several seconds. This longer press is necessary because the release signal lags behind when travelling from one carriage to another. If you release the button to early the emergency brakes might not be disengaged on all carriages yet, instantly reactivating the brakes on the entire train as soon as you release the button.

---Using multiple locomotives on one train (Slave System)
To use multiple locomotives on one train you have to put all of them into „Slave mode“ exept the one you want to be steering from, which will just stay in „Master mode“. To do that press the „Slave this Locomotive“ key(s) in the engine-room(s). This will start the engine of the slaved locomotive, so to park for longer periods of time you have to manually deactivate every single locomotive on the train.
IMPORTANT: If you have a red indicator light on saying „Train config error“, this means you have either none or more than one Locomotives in Master mode on your train, which lockst he controls.
If you want to pull a locomotive without its engine on, pull the „Engine Circuit Breaker“ on the engine control panel.

--Autor´s notes—

The Generator/Engine system this locomotive uses is something I am very pround of. To my knowledge, it is impossible to make a variable-load generator (much) more efficient than this without using bugs/exploits. I might upload a „naked“ version of it, without the locomotive around it.

The speeds this locomotive can reach might be unrealistic but they are nessecary to be able to complete things like container missions within an acceptable amount of time.

The high cost of around 162.000$ is not optimal for Stormworks carrer mode, however the high efficiency and speed of the locomotive should more than make up for this.

For personal reasons I did not have the time to fully test all systems for bugs and other problems. If you find something, please let me know :D

Please do not upload this creation or a modified version of fit.

You are right, I should make it easier to do that. Making other locomotives compatible with the system seems like a ridiculous amount of work as that would create a whole ton of compatability issues, however doing the same for a carriage should be relatively easy. Basically you just have to copy the microcontroller from the existing one and connect it the in same way. I will update the railcar to have proper labels soon.
Feel free to PM me you are working on something like this, i´d be glad to help :D

Great train, it is a shame the logic controllers outputs, channels etc aren't better labelled to make it easier to adapt other rolling stock to play nicely with it's data feeds

Nice!
