Description
The Way of the Herbling
It's a Way of Life. Equipped with forest-walker artisanry, your hero takes on a passion for foraging and the gathering of plants and fungi.

About
The Way of the Herbling is a mod centered around a mysterious encounter that grants the hero the Herbling's Pouch. Foraging for plants and mushrooms becomes a hobby that leads to new discoveries, events, and skills.

The writing style is light. Attention is paid to hero personalities and relationships. All specific species of plants and mushrooms are fictional. Some of them grant benefits to the hero(es), but any allusion to drug-like use is avoided. The writing takes inspiration from the Wildermyth world, cultural references are avoided.

The mod introduces the Herbling's Pouch as an item that can be stored into a character's legacy with a unique skill equipping it in future campaigns. The pouch grants the hero the Gather Patch ability to forage adjacent plant or tree scenery once per mission. (These are the sceneries that grant treecall and vinewrench.)

Successful foraging increases the hero's forager level, modifies the ability's benefit to the user, and unlocks new events where new discoveries can be made. (Failed attempts may also unlock new events that modify the skill!)

The gameplay supports two play-styles: new abilities and modifications can be saved into legacy, or the mods content can be played as a single campaign benefit (with the pouch disappearing like other augments in future campaigns).

Most events and skills require the Herbling's Pouch to be equipped to trigger or be used.

After downloading this mod I noticed something odd, while the mod does seem to be working fine, I can’t seem to enable or disable the mod, it’s not the end of the world, but it’s pretty weird.

@Mindtheblob, In order to stop the faces from appearing from my mod, I'd recommend making an aspect that suppresses those features. Look at the Wolf aspect for example and how it does that stops face generation.

I could be wrong, but I think that is one way to do it.

This is really well done. Leveling the skill, multiple dialogues. Yet, not out of balance.

Oops. So somehow I managed to delete an animation script for the fly swarm right before release. Go me. Patched. Getting a fly swarm debuff should now show on enemies and allies.

I released an update with a new special event for hostile site swamps today: A Bogged Odyssey.
The mission victory for the event can also grant a new shoulder (and wing) pet theme: The Pet Pitcher Plant! (For further information, see 2.9 for the event, and 5.1 for the theme in Discussions > Content)
Also added some cosmetic nuances for the Herbling Pouch depending on aspects the hero has obtained (Company Cook, Violire Blossoms etc.)

There was quite a bit to test out and look through, so if you encounter any bugs/issues, notification is always much appreciated!

Denzarki, yeah the 10 000 faces mod changes how faces are generated so the skin override I have there is not applying. I guess in a world with THAT many faces, even herbling's have faces!
(I might have a look at that mod and see if I can suppress the eye/nose/mouth aspects)

lol are they supposed to not have faces? i have the faces 10,000 mod and it gave the herbling guys faces

Very well done. Tongue in cheek humour, very interesting mechanics. Strongly recommend this mod to all eager to experience a richer storyline than what comes with the vanilla version.
