great map, would love to play it again!
The following is aesthetics opinion only. I want to really like this map and so far its mechanically great. Lots to hide behind, offers something new other maps dont have.
1.) I think it needs a little more haze if you crank the brightness up any, which maybe you should a smidgen. I don't want to visually see well past 10km.
2.) Either the sun or the terrain are the same color. That's bad. You need a contrast between them. Shade the terrain more orange like martian soil or something so 'everything' isn't so red.
4.) The Withdrawal Line is now visible. This is great. And then I thought, oops, that will raise the ceiling on the map won't it? So maybe lower it back down and split the difference? We only need to 'mostly' see where that line is and you couldn't at all before.
None of the above are necessary. They are aesthetic commentary. Thanks for allowing the feedback and for this great map!
And I have some feedback.
Texture wise... I'd like to see some patchy areas of white colored dry ice on the ground here and there. Maybe some along the valley trenches. Also, the red haze is good. Very moody. Maybe a little too red?
Complaint: It looks like the map takes place at twilight. The terrain is as red as the sky, it all blends in. It shouldn't. The terrain should be more orange in color. It needs to contrast with the sky some because it doesn't look good. It's a terribly depressing map because it's so dark. I literally enjoyed the map more when a ship detonated as it lit up the map. I would bring the sun up above the horizon about 10-15° so we can get some good light in there and see better. That's the biggest complaint. It's hard to tell where the sky ends and the terrain begins. I think it seriously detracts from the beauty of the map. Also, the name of the map is the same as the name of the other 30k Mars map. FYI.
