Elemental Disciples - Ice: Frost Kissed

Description
This mod
Adds the Frost Kissed, a hearty, ice-themed class that revolves around insta-freezing targets and inflicting a new status effect that causes frozen explosions when hit with ice. Can be used as a primary class for added PhysDef but also makes a good secondary class to complement both melee and mage playstyles.

Unlock
Prove your devotion to the Ice gods and have a base Ice skill level of 4.

Stats
  • +1 MagAtk
  • +2 Ice, PhysDef, Fist, Hammer, Shield skills
  • -1 MagDef
  • -1 Fire
  • Immune to Warmth and will "Melt" if hit with fire damage, losing -4 PhysDef for 90 TTA.

Trainable Stats: MP, Ice, Fist, Flail, Hammer, Shield

Active Skills
Frost Smash
Core damage skill: instant, AoE, Ice damage
  • Strong scaling with Ice, Fist, Shield, Flail, Hammer (slightly better than vanilla classes but requires leveling multiple skills)
  • MP: 12

Cryo Bomb
Utility skill: bomb does decent damage and can cause Chilled and Cold, as well as summon Snow Storm hazards
  • Cast time: 5
  • Detonation time: 20
  • MP cost: 14 (-3 per additional rank)

Frozen Fervor
Support skill: Buff granting +2 PhysDef, Fist/Hammer/Shield/Ice skills, but Melt if hit with Fire damage and Freeze if hit with Ice damage. Add Ice dmg and chance to inflict cold to weapon attacks.

  • Duration: 60 + (Ice skill * 5) + 20 per additional rank

Flash Freeze
Utility skill: Freeze a target and then freeze yourself. Cannot miss. Can freeze +1 target per rank.
  • Instant
  • MP: 3 + (4 * number of targets)
  • Cooldown: 60

Absolute Zero
Ultimate skill: Freeze ALL targets for a random duration between 10 - 60. Cannot miss.
Rank 2: Damage enemies for Ice skill
Rank 3: Heal Allies for Ice skill
Rank 4: Guard allies for 60
  • Instant
  • MP cost: 12
  • Cooldown: 120

Passives
  • Shivery Sacrifice: Upon death, explode in the surrounding 8 tiles, healing allies and damaging enemies, then drop a Cryo Bomb.
  • Hypothermic Healing: Recover HP and MP for your total Ice skill whenever you are frozen.
  • Counter Shards: When attacked from melee range, push the attacker 2 tiles and then leave ice shards where they were standing.
  • Hoary Haste: When Chilled, gain +2 move distance and -4 Time To Act for 180. Lost with Fire damage.

Status Effects
Frost Kissed introduces 2 status effects that do nothing on their own, but will cause an "explosion" in a 3x3 area if hit with Ice while affected. Additionally the explosion for:
Cold: will potentially spawn "snow fields", will remove Cold and apply Rimed.
Rimed: will potentially spawn "ice shards", will remove rimed and Freeze the target.
Both effects are removed if inflicted with Fire damage, burning, warmth, or frozen.

Hazards
  • Snow Fields: Does not hinder movement or deal damage, but walking through one will cause Cold. If already cold: trigger the cold explosion.
  • Ice Shards: Icy spikes that will hinder movement and do spike damage, plus leave you chilled. Will also trigger Cold explosion if cold.
  • Cryo Bomb: Icy bomb that will explode in the surrounding 8 tiles, with a chance to cause Chilled, Frozen, or Cold, plus a chance to spawn snow fields.
The hazards are meant to advance the status effect chain towards making the enemy explode and freeze, as well as hindering movement.

Warning:
Due to limitations in the hardcoding, I cannot effectively bypass immunity to frozen.
As such: If the caster is immune to Frozen, then Flash Freeze and Absolute Zero will also cause Stun. I do not recommend trying to "cheat" this as it will wreck the class and may have unforeseen consequences.
Additionally, I built this with my Total Race Overhaul mod in mind and thus Ferren cannot be Frost Kissed because they are immune to Frozen and Stun. If you have a Ferren, the job will show up as "Requires Training". If you do not wish to play with my race overhaul mod, you can remove this line from the file "actorClass_icemage.txt": fReq=1-cIsActorType:ferren;.
Finally, with my race mod, some species are susceptible to cold -- while they are not prevented from playing as Frost Kissed, note that they suffer from longer durations of Freeze and will therefore not excel with the freezing powers.

Frost Kissed: Minor Update Details
After a bit of feedback and my own experience, Frost Kissed has been lightly tweaked, hopefully removing some of the negatives and making what's unique about the class shine better.
Frost Smash scales better than Vanilla skills and so has had its MP cost increased slightly.
CryoBombs are much faster (5 charge & 20 detonation) and should help with timing.
Flash Freeze has had cooldown reduced, duration increased, and adds damage to enemies.
Frozen Fervor now correctly adds a weapon buff that adds +Ice dmg and a chance to apply Cold.
Absolute Zero reduced cooldown, removed Chilled, adds damage.
Passives have been made more appealing (I hope):
Hoary Haste increases TTA reduction to -5 (more speed!) and will now proc on ANY ice damage, or chilled, cold, rimed.
Hypothermic Healing now heals your HP and MP for the full combined Ice & MagAtk.

maybe an odd query, but where does it show the class in the class choice area. i do not see it and im wonderign if another class mod has taken the spot or not.

It looks fine King Joshington, and I look forward to trying out the mod later. It might be a while though since I have not played Horizon's Gate in a while. I am still trying to beat the other games I got from a steam sale.

Thanks for that! I didn't even know you could do that! I've set it so that my KJ Resources is required now -- but I'm not really sure what that will look like for the user. In any case, thanks for the tip.

Oh I see it under installation now. Still might want to link the workshop page to your library mod through the requirement tab.

Maybe I missed where you posted it, but you might want to add KJ Resource Library to requirements if it is still required for this mod. If you have posted it you probably want to make it more obvious like adding it to the requirements tab. I know that you wrote on the libraries page that it was a requirement for this mod, but most people are not going to check there since it is just a library and wonder why this mod keeps crashing their game.
