Features


1. Torque effect : when collective is increased, the helicopter will turn to right because of the torque created by the main rotor. the torque decreases as the helicopter gains forward speed.

2. Translating tendency : If you push rudder to left to deal with Torque effect, the tail rotor will start to create its own lift and make the helicopter drife to right.

3. Translational Lift : the helicopter gains extra lift and speed as move. because of this, you don't need to pitch down to extreme to fly forward like vanilla helicopters or other mods.

4. retreating blade stall : If you fly too fast, the helicopter will shake aggressively and you'll lose control. Do not fly faster than the red line in the speed meter.

5. Vortex ring state : if you go down too quickly while there isn't much forward speed, the helicopter will suddenly lose all lift and go down very quickly. The most dangerout state for helicopters.

6. Over torque & Engine overheat : if you increase the torque higher than the red line in torque meter, the engine temperature will start to increase. if it hits the limit, the engine will cause permanent engine failure. Keep watching the engine temperature and don't go full collective all the time.

Flight stick and rudder controller are essential to fly this thing properly. If you don't have them, fly in Arcade flight mode which deactivates pitching up caused by translational lift, torque, and engine overheat.


Forget the laughable adjustment the game claims autohover. This helicopter offers proper auto hover mode that holds the helicopter in position.

In order to engage autohover mode, the helicopter's speed must be slower than 8. Use VSD Hover mode to slowdown helicopter easier. If you press autohover key in that moment and autohover is executed the bob up UI will be displayed.

in autohover mode, the helicopter will automically control cyclic and you only need to control thottle and pedals.


Kiowa warrior has an optic at the top of the main rotor. with careful controls and good use of autohover, you can search the enemies without exposing yourself by only raising MMS from the cover.

Press R to turn on laser designator.


the copilot MFD shows HSD(Horizontal situation display) that displays headings of Mast mounted sight, current waypoint.

The pilot MFD can show VSD(Vertical situation display), VSD Hover mode and MMS view.

Press keypad1 to display VSD and its hover mode(press twice).

Press keypad2 to display MMS view.

and Press keypad6 to switch camera mode to OFF, DTV, and FLIR.


Kiowa warrior support various set of weapons for many different roles. by landing at helipad or waypoint and pressing space you can switch the weapons.

real life kiowa warrior's weapon fire switch has 2 level detents.

the weapon fire key is first detent, and mouse wheel is second detent.

1. 7 Hydra rockets

There are 4 Hydra rockets available : APKWS, M151, M156, and M261.

APKWS is an upgrade kit for Hydras to turn dumb rockets to laser guided missiles. Turn on laser designator and guide them. Max effective range is 500.

M151 is a general high-explosive warhead to destroy soft ground targets.

M156 is a white phosphorus warhead that creates lethal white smokes.

M261 is a multi purpose sub munition warhead that spreads 9 M73 grenades.

the first trigger detent has no effect, and second detent will fire rockets.

2. AGM-114A Hellfire

Kiowa Warrior's most powerful weapon. it's so powerful that instantly kills all passengers inside the vehicle upon destruction. Use laser designator to guide the missiles.
By pressing Prone key, you can select hellfire launch mode to HI and DIR.
HI mode engages top attack that can destroy tanks with one hit, but can't hit flying targets well.

DIR mode directly goes to laser point and can take down helicopters easier, but the damage is decreased slightly.

By launching hellfire without turning on laser, the hellfire will fly up so you can perform LOAL (Lock On After Launch) action.

the first trigger detent has no effect, and second detent will launch hellfire.

Max effective range is 800.

3. AIM-92 ATAS (air-to-air-stinger)

ATAS is a helicopter platform version of MANPADS stinger missile.
Since stinger is originally designed as MANPADS, It strugges to chase fast moving aircrafts. if you want to take down planes, launch it when they are very close to you.

Pressing Trigger first detent will uncage the stinger's seeker and start tracking targets. when the target is locked, pressing Trigger second detent while the missile is uncaged will launch it.

Max effective range is 600.

4. XM296 (Left pylon only)

Fires 500 rounds of 50.cal. 50.cal offers uncomparable firepower compared to any rifle rounds. this gun fires a tracer bullet after every 4th regular rounds, take a look at the tracers to ain the gun.

Trigger first detent fires 15 bursts and second detent is full auto.


7 smoke grenades are available to support your allies.


Kiowa pilots engaged enemies with their M4A1 rifle incase they had ran out of guns or rockets. when using M4A1, you need to care about 2 things :

1. the rifle's projectile is affected by the helicopter's movement. if you and enemy are not moving in the same direction, shooting based on the reflex sight won't hit the target.

2. Holding down trigger will decrease the accuracy. fire in bursts or use semi-auto mode by pressing L.


Kiowa warrior has a HMD called Optical display assembly. This HMD can only be operated together with night vision goggle, so you need to turn on NVG in night to use it.


Before Kiowa Warrior got CMWS upgrades, it used IR jammer. you can activate it with countermeasure key.

when activated, it will create a heat to distract incoming missiles.

but it won't be always successful, and turning on IR jammer makes enemies, especially planes to spot you much easier due to extra heats created by the jammer. It's not a good tactic to turn on this device all the time.

If you have a copilot, you can order him to control IR jammer instead by pressing keypad 4.
