Auto-mining drone designed for all environments and for close cooperation with other such drones.
Please note: The drone needs a dispatcher to work. You can use this basic dispatcher or transfer the green parts from it to your own ship/station to convert it into a drone carrier. Remember to recompile PB blocks after doing so.

Do/do not list
Do:
  • Preferably adjust any mining job parameters before the job starts. Doing otherwise will apply changes after the finished shaft.
  • After using the interactive menu on the drone with the mouse control function, press 1 on the toolbar to disable it. Otherwise, you won't be able to fully control the drone.
  • While installing connectors on your carrier, install them in a line, only on one side of the ship. Doing otherwise will cause collisions.
  • When starting a new job align the carrier's connectors horizontally with the entry of the shaft.
  • While starting a new mining job, align the carrier's connectors perpendicular to the shaft.
  • After changing the mining area or copy/paste in different location, set up a new mining job first. Otherwise while recalling the drones will try to get to the old location first.
  • If the drone gets damaged during the mining job, after fixing it, recompile a-min3r PB block on the drone

  • If you see any weird behavior, like a drone just hanging in the air, clear custom data of the empty "docka" connectors, if that won't help execute "command:clear-storage" and "purge locks" (the latter may cause collisions)
  • If you can't control the drone after undocking it from the station, turn off the gyro override (it's on the toolbar of the drone)
  • If completely changing the set of drones, recompile the station's PB block. It will update the list of active drones.
Do not:
  • Do not press "resume" or "recall" more than once. It will break the system.
  • Avoid recalling when some of the drones are docked. There's an issue with that function that may cause problems.
  • Do not resume while still mining
  • Do not copy/paste the drones during their task running

The command to take control over the interface is "cc". You need to run the PB a-menucommand with such argument. Running it again will disable the interface and bring back the control over the drone.
Alternatively you can run the same PB (a-menucommand) with the arguments:
- up
- down
- enter
- esc
to navigate through interactive menu.

What are the commands to actually turn the direction of the drone. front back left and right are pretty easy, i assumed E and Q would be to turn.... they dont seem to do anything

Quick tips for anyone printing this in survival:
Make sure it can connect to a connecter after printing, it needs hydrogen.
After it's finished and fueled, make sure to recompile both the Programmable blocks.

I managed to get everything set up and running, and the drones performed their mining ballet flawlessly—it’s truly a sight to see.

However, not for long.

I have to admit that the entire setup feels quite cumbersome.
While it works to some extent, issues frequently arise, even after just reloading a save. The screens often go blank, requiring you to set them up again. Additionally, recompiling while the drones are docked tends to disrupt everything.

Overall, it’s not very stable or reliable. In comparison, PAM performs better. That said, I’ll still give it a try.

Hi Tangerine,

It looks like you need to reassign the LCD. In my case, it was displaying on a random LCD over my base.

To fix this, rename the desired LCD to something unique, such as LCD-Drone-Interface. Then, on the Programmable Block ("Mining Computer SCAM"), run the following command:

command:add-panel: LCD-Drone-Interface

After that, hop into the seat, and it should work as expected.

Kind regards

Note to anyone in the future, this mod does not work. The main screen thats blue turns up black, and the start job button gives no response. Even after recompiling and making sure Scripts are enabled it still seems to be broken.

Also the SCAM script included in the XU-3's still works. I've checked it today 30.10.24.

Hi @Nyxborne the blue interface shows up when you enter the control seat on the dispatcher (the one assigned as main control seat in the PB custom data) and move your mouse so it can pick up the input.
Nyxborne 29 Oct, 2024 @ 6:04pm
How are you getting the blue interface in your first video at 1.26? I've pasted your blueprint, updated the script to it's current version on both miners and dispatcher, and run it perfectly. But i can't figure out how you got that screen to show the blue grid
Nyxborne 29 Oct, 2024 @ 1:07pm
@pro100tv Of course it's easier, the script included here is outdated and doesn't work
