Esbern of the Blades

Description
Remember when the first news of Skyrim came out, and Esbern was one of the first characters mentioned? Blades lore master and mentor to the Dragonborn, voiced by the legendary Max Von Sydow, Esbern sounded like a mighty, wise and aged warrior, the kind that even a great hero like the Dragonborn could look up to. Did you imagine that when you met him in the game and reestablished the Blades, he'd spend the remainder of the story wandering around in black pajamas? No? Me neither.

With that in mind, I whipped up this simple mod that changes Esbern's Sky Haven outfit from Mourner's Clothes to a full suit of Blades Armor (cuirass, gauntlets and boots), and he now appropriately carries an Akaviri Katana at all times as his primary weapon instead of just a little dagger. The aim is simply to lend a more imposing air to Esbern's countenance and give him the feel of the battle-hardened old knight he was cracked up to be.

He wore the "black pajamas" (actually Mourner Clothes, get the name right) so that he could mourn the loss of the blades visually.

Give the Man a Kimono an slippers...he is an old man. I am sure is back is messed up and joints gave way long ago. He is a Veteran Warrior who does not nor should not wear armor. He is an old man give him a break. LOL.

Indeed. Anyway, the point of this mod is explained in the description. When I first read about Skyrim before it came out, Esbern sounded like a mighty and experienced old warrior, not a feeble old man in black PJs - I always imagined him in Blades armor, since he is in fact, well, a Blade. If you don't agree with the mod, don't subscribe to it. Simple as that.

if there were Blade mage's battlerobes that would be perfect, but the ceremonial aspect makes sense, since he's an important member of the Blades

He's an old NORD. An old Nord BLADE. And the armor and sword are mainly for ceremonial purposes anyway. His voice is done by Max Von Sydow, who's played all kinds of bad@$$ characters over his movie career. Also he ditches the white tunic you first find him in and wears a black one instead in the vanilla game.

He is a magic based fighter, and the point remains.... he's old. Do you really expect someone his age fighting in armor like that? I mean.... listen to his voice! He's in his dotage... let him have his "pajamas" that aren't even black, and allow him his rest.

@eslagle7 Yes, and he still is. Only his armor and weapon are changed, not his combat style or anything else about him. And he won't put on the armor until you set up shop at Sky Haven Temple. So he'll still be wearing that white shirt when you first find him.
