Maneater Variety

Description
Pirates are fun, but isn't variety the spice of life?

I agree, that's why this mod gives maneaters an overhaul by giving them bits and bobs from cultures around the warhammer world. Dwarves, ogres, tomb kings, lizards, and a few more make an appearance here to give them a large array of varied appearances.

This a purely graphical change and should be highly compatible with anything that also doesn't change maneater's appearance or physical size.

@Massive Anorak CA didn't make any Hero Maneaters, what are you talking about?
Paymasters are lords, but that's a Dogs of War thing, not a Maneater thing (technically speaking Golgfag is also a Dogs of War character instead of an Ogre Kingdoms one).
but the new Bruiser Hero is a regular Ogre Kingdoms thing, also not a Maneater thing.
the Eshin Maneater is an RoR, and it's pretty sad that Clan Eshin don't get access to it.

What I wished CA would have done, is done smaller aspiring champion style units of Maneaters like the Eshin one, but maybe some empire greatsword ones, some dwarfen thunderer ones, maybe some dark elf spear ones, but a unit around a theme with a more specific battlefield role. But CA made one of them a lord, and the other a hero

for Golgfag's Maneaters it would probably be best to keep in mind the areas they operate in most often, so giving priority to Dwarf, Greenskin, Vampire Count, Empire, Brettonia, and High Elf stuff would be most important for them as a priority (admittedly their most preferred areas seem to be the Southern Realms and the Moot, but neither of those areas have their own dedicated factions yet unless you venture into modding).

for Maneaters in general it makes more sense for each Ogre to have one focus. the idea is that they've each latched onto a single culture that they particularly like and that's what they're dressing up as (a clear example of this is the Eshin Maneater).
if possible it might be best if Maneaters hired by other factions stuck to the parts they gain from that faction (e.g. if Gorbad hires Maneaters from Skrag they should strongly prioritise Greenskin parts. you might still see the occasional Maneater of another culture, but the ones that stick with Gorbad are going to adopt the Greenskin culture).

Golgfag's Maneaters seem to be a bit of an exception though, it might just be due to how much the group ventures around but they seem to end up with more of a mix of random bits instead of sticking to just 1 culture (as an example there's one known character as part of the group who mixes Brettonian, Goblin, Tilean, Dwarf, and Beastman items).

Will it be a standalone mod for those who want the Golg bois to be as is?

Thank you, I'm definitely thinking about Golgfag's maneaters and deciding how I want to approach it. I could take the system I have now, where each individual ogre in a unit is fairly sharply delineated by race. I was also thinking about possibly trying a whole new approach where there's far more mix and match pieces from any race on each individual ogre.

I'll probably do the easy thing of applying my already existing work to the new maneaters first, but knock around ideas in my noggin for a while.

Could you do some variants for Golg's Maneaters?
Thrakerzod 30 Jul, 2024 @ 2:58am
@Butterfly floof off the top of my head the factions I've not seen included are
proper Empire themed Ogres (though I think the generic vanilla ones are being counted as Empire ones)
Vampire Counts
Warriors of Chaos
Beastmen
Wood Elves
Norsca
Skaven
Vampire Coast
Kislev
and Cathay

I guess Daemons of Chaos too, but I consider them to be more of a mix of Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch and Slaanesh (which I think are all done) instead of them really being their own faction.
