Thanks, Chumbo!

Description
Easy recruitment for rare NPCs
Want to get your hands on some recruits in the field? Be kind to strangers! If you use First Aid or Repair on one of the characters listed below, you'll have the option to speak with them for recruitment. Each one has lots of unique dialogue, as well as their own rules. Well, okay, the UC characters all share the same dialogue. Anyway...

Rules
All: NPC must be injured, but conscious. They must not be a slave and must not be your prisoner. You can only recruit individual types once every 48 hours, but you can also recruit the other types during that time. For example, you can only recruit one Peasant every 48 hours, but you could immediately go recruit a Lost drone and other types.

Special Rules
Peasant / Empire Peasant: (Don't be a slave.)
UC Squatters: (Same as above.)
Lone drifter
Lost drone
Holy Farmer wife: (No skeletons / prosthetics.)
Starving Bandit + Leader: (Mustn't be hostile.)
Starving Vagrant: (Same as above.)
Escaped Servant: (Recruiting = -3~5 HN rep.)
Slave escapee Holy Nation: (Same as above.)

About Starving Bandits & Vagrants: Any new dialogue is based on pre-existing first aid reactions in the game. It is necessary for you not to be enemies with the faction and not to cause the squad to go hostile for any reason. A bit of a challenge at times, but you'll find opportunities if you keep trying. If you don't feel like recruiting them, you'll also have the option to give them money for faction relations.

About Escaped Servants and Slave escapee HN: Their reactions vary, depending on your race. Recruiting them will incur a penalty on your relations with the Holy Nation, while politely conversing can increase your relation with the HN Outlaw faction.

For some reason, the first member of a squad you heal (such as a Peasant in one of their camps) may or may not speak to you. But if you keep healing other squad mates, one of them will eventually react.

All of these characters are vanilla and can be found on Kenshi wiki.

Bonus Features
(NEW) In some instances, the NPC you are healing will temporarily ally with you. This was added because some characters, such as vagrants, may attack you even as they begin speaking. Please report any amusing outcomes.

Also introduce Petty Bribes Pacifier dialogues to offset the Relations penalties incurred when you recruit Holy Nation Refugees. Now you can give pacifiers 5,000 cats for a +4 Relations boost. The new dialogues are available at any pacifier you need, from Slave Traders to Hounds.
To access the feature, You must:
- Have between -10 to -40 Reputation
- Come back again in 48 hours if you want another boost

This bonus feature has been released as a separate mod for those not interested in
Thanks, Chumbo. However, the Chumbo version gives lower Reputation for a lower price, for balance purposes.

Something just popped in my head. Would it be possible to expand this concept the the pups of wild animal factions? We already have Tame Beasties its true, but this one has a better RP concept for gaining allies you have shown kindness to. Taking a wild bone dog pup and patching it up and taming it would feel so much more like a bond than just buying one.

Just a thought.

Love this mod. Lost Drones are such useful fellas and I hate seeing them end up as fodder for the beasts and bandits.

Of course! That sounds like a wonderful idea.

Hey there!

Thanks for the fantastic mod—I’ve really enjoyed it! I'd love to translate it into Spanish so more people can experience it, giving you full credit, of course.

I’m still learning modding, but I’d love to contribute. Would it be alright to upload the translation to Steam? I’ll link back to the original so others can support it too.

Cheers!

Unintended but not a problem. You could take advantage of it to interact with them yourself if you want. It also won't trigger the cooldown because completing the dialogue is what does that.

I've noticed a couple of instances where the dialogue would proc when an NPC was healing another and I was in the area but not doing the healing myself. Seems unintended.

Thanks for the reply, and indeed after doing some digging I noticed on the wiki under Beserkers a comment thread in which several players do confirm that Beserkers from cannibal cages is a Vanilla thing and maybe the single strongest possible recruit a player can have within the first couple days of game starting without cheesing.

Berserkers aren't covered in this mod but I may have had one join me in the same way from a cannibal's stake. It's a crazy lucky get from vanilla! Another good find are wandering skeletons on the west side of Wend, if you can find a rare loner.

In a recent PT I had a Beserker with rather high skills and stats join me after I rescued them from a cannibal cage. Their stats are much higher than what I believed was a universal hard cap in Vanilla of 75 between the 4 abilities scores for saving prisoners. I had also healed them, and was wondering if they were on the list?

Otherwise I am forced to think it was an event from Vanilla as I have no other mods at work that alter chance for a person to randomly join.

Anyone else have crazy Vanilla recruits come from rescued NPCs?

Update, new feature: In some instances, the NPC you are healing will become a temporary ally. This was added because some characters, such as vagrants, may attack you even as they begin speaking. Please report any amusing outcomes.

Great mod. I love the idea and I think it's the perfect choice. I don't like how putting people in a cage make them your allies. It doesn't make much sense and It should not work in real life most of the times, but as there's no mod to make your npcs betray you, i think your mod is ideal.
