Description
Introduces eight new callings and eight new castes to Caves of Qud.




Callings are (mostly) balanced around existing options in the base game, and follow the general rule of not providing a net increase to attributes greater than +2. Castes forgo providing a bonus to saves or elemental resistance in favor of an additional +1 to an attribute, for a total, generally speaking, of +5. Starting equipment for the castes and callings may sometimes be a little on the strong side compared to some base game subtypes, but not entirely unreasonable, I think.

Callings:
  • The Alchemist: Set out with a melange of oddities to cook and prepare with.
  • The Berserker: Well, a weapon this big is just plain unrealistic.
  • The Dervish: Hone your focus and master the way of the mindblade with this esper.
  • The Drifter: A blade is only as good as its wielder.
  • The Homesteader: Carve out a place of your own on the frontiers of Qud.
  • The Hunter: Expand your collection and go hunting for big game with this eccentric outdoorsman.
  • The Rancher: What more does one need to conquer Qud but a whip, sidearm, and big knife?
  • The Scoundrel: You start with quite a steal, but at what cost?

Castes:
  • The Commando: Become the scourge of the salt dunes with this heavily-armed desert rat.
  • The Borer: We've got to get to the bottom of this.
  • The Demolitionist: It's harder to create than it is to destroy. That's why this one only destroys.
  • The Marshal: Friend of the Wardens and fastest cybernetically-enhanced gun of the east.
  • The Agent: Stealth is a vital part of Caves of Qud for all players.
  • The Daughter: An exiled tinkerer, skilled with a cudgel and well-suited to experimenting with mechanisms.
  • The Guardian: Stand as the final bulwark before Qud's greatest threats as this menace of sword-and-board.
  • The Oathbreaker: An exiled betrayer of the Putus Templar, with worn yet battle-tested gear.

This is my first mod for Caves of Qud, so let me know if anything turns out to be horribly non-functional, or if this somehow crashes your game.

Updated. Should work with release version of Caves of Qud, 1.0.2.

Hello! It is completely understandable if you reject this and aren't ok with it, but I went ahead and created an unofficial 1.0 update for your mod!

It's not much, all it does is flip the player tiles to the correct position. I'm not really a modder so I can't fix any other issues that the 1.0 release may have warranted. Just wanted to let you know, as I plan on posting it to the Caves of Qud Discord (with full credit to you of course). Do reply if you're not ok with any of this, the message will go down immediately and I'll cease uploading the file.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that the player tiles are facing the wrong way, 1.0 seemed to do that with every mod.

hey op this mod looks great. does the game have the tools to take the fallout style negative and positive perks customization that the mutations use but for truekin castes? a sort of "build your body" to choose the skills and weapons you start with.

I still need to do some testing to verify compatibility, and I will also have to compare this to the current update's game files to see if anything has changed. It may or may not be, have not confirmed yet.
