Description
NORBYTES SCRIPT EXTENDER IS REQUIRED:
https://github.com/Norbyte/ositools/releases

WeapFX
This mod will add lights colours to elemental weapons effect that match that type.

Element and Light colors:
Fire: Orange-ish
Air: Purple-ish
Earth: White (Other colors don't play nice..)
Poison: Green
Water: Blue

Sadly does not affect Bows or Crossbows :(

This mod pairs well with my "No Player Light"

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2828611912

Using these two together, you can see the light effect of weapons better in darker areas. it looks neat :)

FAQ for Players:
Q: Does this affect FPS?
A: Not a lot, but my PC is a beast so testing is a bit limited. Poorer rigs will likely notice an -some- impact but i dont think many will notice any performance impact.

Q: Can i enable mid-playthorugh and/or disable mid-playthrough?
A: Yes. All this does is modify visual effects, no game-data will be modified.

Q: Is this compatible with X mod or Y mod?
A: Yes, very likely and very highly compatible. I don't know of any mods that modify these effects. There may be some, but i don't know of any.
For maximum compatibility, load this before any weapon or effect mods so they over-write this mod, but you may lose the light effect.

Q: Can you add X or change Y or make Z?
A: I'm happy to consider suggestions or changes or improvements, etc. There may be more optimal or better ways to do what i have done with this mod, it's not perfect.

Q: Why does this weapon look weird when i move? (Brighter)
A: This mod was made with effects that don't scale well across all weapons. Some look a bit different because the effects cannot be scaled (or i don't know how to do it) for specific weapon-types. It's a one-shoe-for-all approach.

FAQ For Modders:
Q: How did you make this?
A: Went to the weapon effect, and added to the 'sparkle' effect in each one, a custom-made light attached to the 'Attached FX' variable.

Q: What effects does this modify?
A: RS3_FX_Items_Weapons_DamageType_[ELEMENT]_01_Lvl0[X]
[ELEMENT] = Fire, Water, air, etc. [X] = A number between 1 and 5

Example:
RS3_FX_Items_Weapons_DamageType_Fire_01_Lvl03

Q: What Light does this use?
A: RS3_FX_LTS_Candle_F_01 - I just copied this one multiple times and customised each light for each element.

KNOWN ISSUES:
1) Occasionally on loading a game or quickly-swapping weapons, the lights concentrate around the hands. Just re-holster and un-holster to make it normal again. I may have a fix soon. - SOLVED.

rfuzzo for helping with the script needed to hook-into script extender. (Seriously, this mod either wouldnt exist or would have come a lot later without his help.)

Sorry, that problem might be unrelated to this mod in my game. They're randomly visible/not visible, not sure why

Is there any way to get the default effects back after disabling this? I disabled it because I prefer the elements dripping off the weapon but now there is no effect

@Dark_Ansem I haven't tested it yet, but wouldn't they be compatible without an add-on as luminary adds it's own light effects to go with the new custom damage type?
Dark_Ansem 12 Jul, 2022 @ 3:20am
Would you make an add-on for the Luminary mod, which adds a custom damage type?

what happens is a weapon has 2 elemental effects?

Looks Great. So much better than elements like poison oozing off your weapon.
