Starting into the game
The start

Every player starts with a spaceship containing enough items to colonize one planet. They are located around the sun and are marked by a circle in the color of the owning faction. Alternatively you can find all your spaceships in the spaceship list by clicking the button with the spaceship icon on the bottom left. You can select a spaceship by clicking on it with the left mouse button and send it where you like by clicking the right mouse button. For example, you can send it into the orbit of a planet by right clicking one while having a spaceship selected. It is recommended to colonize a grass planet first, because it offers you with all the resources you need.

Colonizing a planet

Once your ship is in the orbit of a uncolonized planet, a button will appear in the spaceship info menu. If you click it, you will be able to build a spaceport on the planet and colonize it. All the items from the spaceships inventory will be automatically transferred to the planets inventory.

Spaceports and warehouses

Warehouses are necessary for the logistics your economy. If you demolish all warehouses and the spaceport on your planet, it will be uncolonized again.
Items are delivered from and to them, so you should try to keep a production buildings distance to its nearest warehouse relatively low.
Spaceports act as warehouses with the additional ability to transfer items between the colonys inventory and spaceships if they are nearby. Later in the game you will unlock transfer docks, which can only be used to transfer items between a colony and nearby spaceships.
Building materials and energy
Producing bricks

It's best you start by building a production chain for bricks. First, you need to find a clay deposit. You can do this by searching manually for one or by clicking on the clay icon on the top right of you screen. Once you found one, you can select the clay mine in the building menu and build it onto the deposit by clicking with the left mouse button. The building menu by clicking the button with the house icon on the bottom left. Alternatively you can select the deposit and construct the correct mine from there.

The clay mine will now start producing clay and transport it to the nearest spaceport or warehouse. Depending on the distance, it could make sense to build an additional warehouse close to the clay mine. Long transport routes could throttle your economy.

Now it's time to use the produced clay and turn it into bricks. For this you need to build a brick smeltery. Every clay mine can supply two brick smelteries. To see this, you can hover both buildings in the building menu and you will see that the clay mine has a production time of 5 seconds, while the brick smeltery has a production time of 10 seconds.

Energy

An important thing to keep in mind is your energy balance, which you can see on the bottom right of your screen. Try to keep it positive, because a negative power balance will slow down your production buildings and anger your residents. If it drops down to -100, your buildings won't be producing at all. To prevent an energy shortage, you can build buildings like the windpark, as this is the first building you can build to produce energy.
Cities and farms
City basics:

You could now start building your city by placing a city center and some workers residents. Make sure to place them next to eachother so the workers need for a city center will be fullfilled. City buildings like the city center and the pub don't need to be placed next to each resident, but are carried on through adjacent city buildings. In theory, one city center is enough to fullfill a whole planet of resident buildings with the need for a city center, as long they are all connected to eachother.

Income:

Each residence of your city will generate income based on how many people are living there and how satisfied they are. So make sure to expand your economy when expanding your city.

Farms:

To supply the needs of your residents, you have to produce vegetables. These are produced in the vegetable farm. Farms need additional fields to operate. Fields are just like buildings even though they can not be found in the building menu. Fields can be placed by selecting the farm and clicking the button which is marked red in the following picture. After clicking the button you can start placing the fields just like normal buildings Alternatively you can let the farm automatically place its fields by pressing the button which is marked green. Important: Fields have to be placed adjacent to the farm or a field that is already connected to the farm.

Upgrading your buildings:

These are the basic mechanics of the game. Your goal is to fullfill all needs of your worker residents and upgrade them to the second tier. A residential building can be upgraded as soon as all their needs are fullfilled and it reached the maximum amount of residents that can live in that building.

You can either click the upgrade button in the building info menu or use the upgrade tool from the toolbar for convenience. You can select the upgrade orientation your residents should take in the city center via a slider. If you upgrade a residence for the first time, you will be asked in which direction you want your city to develop.

You can see the upgrade button in the workers residence on the picture below. If you hover over it with the mouse cursor, you will be shown the requirements and which may be unfullfilled.
The end
We hope this guide can help you getting started with Planet S! If you have any unanswered questions or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment, create a post in the Community hub or join our Discord server[discord.gg]!

You will come to the point, where your first planet can't supply you with the resources you need. In that case you have to colonize a second planet. To get help with setting up trade routes, you can take a look in our trade routes guide.

@Aidam You have to select your starting spaceship and send it to a planet, zoom in on the planet (or double click on the planet) and then you can colonize the planet by selecting the spaceship and there should be a small house icon in the spaceship UI in the bottom right. You can also check out this guide by Chilliarch, he has some picture that show the process: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2832241678
