Description
Strange things are afoot.

First, a foul scent that blows in from the southwest, then a massive spike in hospitalizations due to a mysterious virus, followed by reports of the dead coming back to life, peaking with the evacuation and cordoning of Knox County. Most citizens were fortunate enough to make it out during the evacuation, but there were those less fortunate who now found themselves caged in.

The military has pulled any remaining resources out of the County, the dead roam the streets, and those abandoned by the government sword to protect them are left to fend for themselves.

On the morning of the 9th of July, 3 days after the Knox Evacuation, the sun would never rise again. Initially mistaken by most as a simple technology malfunction, where it relates to clocks and watches, it soon became painfully obvious that something else was happening. No matter how long you waited, the sun would never show its face. In fact, people quickly began to notice the moon was also missing.

Radio hobbyists would establish contact with other cities outside of the Knox Exclusion Zone to discover the worst had come to pass: not only had the government failed to quarantine the virus, eventually resulting in a global pandemic, but the sun and moon had vanished everywhere else.

Hunker down and brace for The Long Night.

This mod aims to provide a permanent darkness/night mode to the game for those who are sadisitic (like myself) and want to torture themselves. I haven't tested the mod with other mods, so if there are issues with compatibility, feel free to let me know and I can do some digging. (ALSO: this is multiplayer compatible)

This mod was heavily inspired by Azakaela's "The Sun Has Been Vanquished" mod, but aimed to provide an experience that allowed for flashlight usage (as many of the comments had been requesting). Additionally, most of the credit goes to TurboTuTone (Discord: Redichus#7830) who not only helped me figure out what needed to be done in order to successfully pull off the mod, but he also just flat out wrote the entire mod (seeing as I know absolutely nothing about lua and PZ modding just yet) while teaching me what meant what, so a big thank you to Turbo.

Feel free to leave any feedback you have, suggestions, additions, etc. in the comments. Thanks for checking out the mod.

EDIT 07/03/22 16:20 PM: The Long Night is now compatible with all permanent weather mods, as well as the game's base weather. Sorry it took me so long to figure out all the back-end stuff so that the lighting, FOV, and weather lighting remained consistent throughout all weather cycles. Enjoy!

in build 42, when starting new game go to 'sandbox', then in options go 'Meta' and in that tab there is option for 'day/night cycle' you can change that to endless night, or endless day

I figured all mods were broken. I could try it out.

@Crowflake don't know if you found this or an alternative but here's a mod for permanent weathers https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2086715842

@Jango If options could be added similar to power and water shutoff that would be amazing.

The mod looks fantastic. Now all I need to find is a permanent fog option and I'm in for some fun nuclear winter times!

@Sepherchorde It just does what it says, no options unfortunately
