in build 42, when starting new game go to 'sandbox', then in options go 'Meta' and in that tab there is option for 'day/night cycle' you can change that to endless night, or endless day
MEDICINE 7 Feb @ 6:34pm
nah, it isn't showing up in the mod menu.
MEDICINE 7 Feb @ 3:42pm
I figured all mods were broken. I could try it out.
Jango  [author] 7 Feb @ 2:39pm
Does it not currently work in B42?
MEDICINE 7 Feb @ 8:54am
will this be updated?
ryngrizzly 6 Feb @ 10:31pm
Any chance of an update for B42?
JustaFriendlyPerv 1 Dec, 2024 @ 1:04am
@Crowflake don't know if you found this or an alternative but here's a mod for permanent weathers https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2086715842
Sepherchorde 6 Nov, 2024 @ 10:16pm
@Jango If options could be added similar to power and water shutoff that would be amazing.
Crowflake 14 Oct, 2024 @ 4:47am
The mod looks fantastic. Now all I need to find is a permanent fog option and I'm in for some fun nuclear winter times!
Jango  [author] 12 Oct, 2024 @ 4:31pm
@Sepherchorde It just does what it says, no options unfortunately
Sepherchorde 27 Sep, 2024 @ 8:03pm
Does this just do what it says on the tin, or does it have options? Like, making it so when the sun sets months down the line it just doesn't rise again? Or having nights get just a little longer each night until eventually day doesn't happen?

G00SE_ 17 Jul, 2024 @ 12:56pm
Can you make an eternal day mod?
Brother Hal 6 Jun, 2024 @ 10:58am
@Huskram When it says permanent, it means PERMANENT. You can never escape it.
Huskram 25 May, 2024 @ 2:34pm
Even when I make a new character with the mod still unsubbed. I dont understand
Huskram 25 May, 2024 @ 2:43am
Not sure if it was this mod or what, but I'm now experiencing permanent night even with the mod disabled AND unsubscribed. I'm assuming it was this mod cause that's literally what it does, but so weird that I un subbed and its still happening. Anyone else?
Moolov 20 May, 2024 @ 7:09am
ah finally i was looking for an actual mod that can simulate the 30 days of night stuff
EmberD 9 May, 2024 @ 3:25am
Its not sadistic bro its masochistic
D3rpy 7 May, 2024 @ 4:50pm
Is there anyway to remove the mod from a preexisting save and have the day/night cycle return?
Kanarek 30 Mar, 2024 @ 3:15am
I've played the game with the mod for a brief moment. The night is a true night, not a fake night. Temperature is lower and the visibility arc is narrower, as if it is actual nighttime all the time. Pitch Black with Cat's Eyes is really dark in places without light. So far good mod!
Kanarek 21 Mar, 2024 @ 4:19am
By the way, does your mod allow to make the night truly pitch black, and I mean it (completely pitch black, utter darkness in places without light sources)? It would make perfect sense, according to the lore, and I would be tempted to download it then. And does the permanent night also have night weather conditions (I mean, is it colder than during the day, even at normal daytime hours, or does the weather still work as if there was a day/night cycle)?
Kanarek 21 Mar, 2024 @ 4:12am
I did a quick test in Universe Sandbox and Earth seems to lose about 2 degree Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) per month (if Sun disappears instantly, like in the mod's lore). Within the first month, there would winter all over the globe, and within three I would expect much of the world to be frozen. 6-7 months since the beginning the entire land surface would be frozen. After 7 years since Sun's disappearance, global average temperature would drop to around -93 C (-135.4 F), whereas after 22 years since the beginning: to around -143 C (-225.4 F). So it makes perfect sense to play with Cryogenic Winter but it would be interesting to witness the steady drop of climate temperature (still having weather though).
Kanarek 20 Mar, 2024 @ 5:32am
I'd like to point out one thing: if Sun is gone (most likely via magical means because I can't imagine it happen otherwise, other than from Earth's sky only by simply going out of orbit via some means), Earth sooner or later freezes to almost absolute zero (having no heating source). The idea is great and simple, however the world would become unplayable at some point if steady drop of temperature was introduced (weather would still create some variations in the temperature though). Not that I expect to see the mod expanded by this feature, it's already good. Therefore, it makes sense to play this mod alongside Cryogenic Winter to simulate the conditions after the initial stage of the apocalypse.

I was pointed here bz Power Outages Mod,

Perhaps it would also be a good addition
Jango  [author] 11 Feb, 2024 @ 12:13pm
That's typically how I play with this mod. I don't think I've ever played with it WITHOUT Cryogenic Winter
Danny 11 Feb, 2024 @ 8:25am
Combining this mod with Cryogenic winter would be pretty cool, imo, surviving on freezing Earth after it's been somehow warped by an anomaly outside the milkyway without sun / any other star to keep it warm plus having a zombie apocalypse on your hands to deal with.

Sounds like some SCP <class_here> end of the world scenario to me.
Chop Chop 10 Feb, 2024 @ 2:36pm
@Kyler Underwood. Knowing what your enemy is different from what your enemies can do, Im a fan of zombie games and its really different from horror games. I dont care dying from hundreds of zed. Ill either right my skills down or create a new character. Where a disciple of Chad
Chop Chop 10 Feb, 2024 @ 2:35pm
Ok thanks
Jango  [author] 10 Feb, 2024 @ 12:56pm
@Mikanisim I can't speak to whether it can be added and removed mid save or not, I've never tried it
Kyler Underwood 10 Feb, 2024 @ 12:51pm
@Mikanisim If you get easily scared with horrors then playing a zombie game where the only ending is death is a bad choice to begin with
Chop Chop 9 Feb, 2024 @ 10:36pm
Nice. Can this be added mid save? and can it be remove anytime?
Jango  [author] 9 Feb, 2024 @ 10:34pm
Yeah, it's just darkness
Chop Chop 9 Feb, 2024 @ 5:20pm
so this is just darkness? No hidden horros added? I get easily scared with horros.

Reminds me of a series called, "The sun vanished." Very terrifying to look up and just see darkness at 10 in the morning.

@strawberrycat2007 It still works for me and I am using plenty of mods.

@WhoWhoo I just finished a game of playing this mod under the pitch black settings; you don't want to play it in pitch black because it just makes all torches barely functional.
strawberrycat2007 21 Jul, 2023 @ 6:50pm
Unless this mod is broken, I can't seem to get it to work.

Wish it could be pitch black the whole time, but I understand the limitations. Great mod still :D

can you turn it on mid game? Im looking mods for a permadeath server with friends and it would be an amazing event.
Weitsicht 6 Jan, 2023 @ 7:22am
hey just wanted to say thx for the great mod first :) we have alot of fun in our game but we have some new friends joining and since they are beginners we would like to remove the mod for some time to give them a better start. the problem now is removing the mod didnt changed anithing and the question is do we do something wrong ? or how we do it ?
Joy Tomaro 22 Dec, 2022 @ 5:57am
it seems that outdoors the flashlights work fine, but indoors, the flashlights are severely weakened. do you know a solution for that or why that could be happening?
< NA127:I2P {↑13%📈} > 18 Dec, 2022 @ 3:06am
Great mod; the only fault here is that the game currently doesn't have enough to do with crafting lights and setting up a well-lit base.
Jango  [author] 15 Aug, 2022 @ 8:43am
@Yandere unlike "The Sun Has Been Vanquished," which adds a thick layer of blackened fog to the game to give the illusion of darkness, "The Long Night" effectively takes the color scheme of the game at midnight (the darkest point of the night), and overrides the game's settings so that the darkness is always persistent (even through all weather cycles). Whether this affects the actual sense of the zombies is something I've yet to fully try as I play my playthroughs on permanent Winter settings, so their sense are already significantly hindered. However, if it's any consolation, one of the settings that needed to be tweaked in order to achieve this effect was DAYLIGHT_STRENGTH, which was needed to be turned down. So maybe it does affect their senses?
