Smash Up! by Mervil

Description
Introduction
This is a sleek Smash Up mod that provides:
  • an in-game user interface for easier game set up and base scoring.
  • optional ban phases during UI-guided faction drafting.
  • a simple game table with space for 6 bases, with access to additional base areas as needed.
  • capability of hosting up to 6 players (though Smash Up is generally made for 2-4 players).
  • automatic collection of match statistics to provide data for analysis by the guys at https://www.smashupdata.com/
  • support for your own custom factions! upload them once, and re-use them forever!

Included Expansions
Includes all sets including Excellent Movies, Dudes and the Teens promo!
This mod includes the base game and ALL released expansions and promotional factions.
It will be kept up to date with the latest expansions and factions.

Notes
Currently, use of the UI is required to start a match. A manual set up option is being developed.

If you encounter any bugs, glitches, or issues, please let me know!

Thank You!
Huge shout out to all the people on the TTS Discord who helped me so much!

Instructions
The very first thing the HOST will see is a prompt to use the user-interface guided setup process (highly recommended) or not.

UI SETUP
==========================================

During the UI setup, the HOST has full control over the process. All other players will be able to select/draft their own factions, but all other settings will be selected by the HOST.

The UI setup includes options for:
● Which expansions to include (can be fine-tuned to which factions are included).
● Type of draft--what method will be used for players to select their two factions.
● Faction selection--each player will be able to select their own factions from an individually randomized pool, or draft from a randomized draft pool.
● Base settings--choose which bases will be included in the game (the defaults are the standard rules-based settings).

GAMEPLAY
==========================================

Base Basics: There are 6 "base zones" on the table, with a place to play a base card and a scoreboard associated with each. If needed, more base zones will become accessible once all 6 base zones are filled.
If using the UI setup, base cards will automatically be dealt out. When a base card is played into a base zone, the base zone becomes “activated” and the scoreboard turns on. More bases can be dealt by clicking the "Deal New Base" button near the base deck, or simply picking a base card from the deck, and dropping it onto a base zone.
The base’s scoreboard will show the base’s current breakpoint on the gray tile, as well as the combined power of all player’s on the white tile. The power contributed from each player is shown on the tile with the color that matches their seat color.
The tile with the cog icon opens a settings panel for the base (discussed later).
A player’s power at a base can be manually adjusted by left-clicking (to increase) or right-clicking (to decrease) their power there.

-----------------------
Cards and Colors: When playing a minion or an action that plays on a minion or base, it will be played in the base zone. Within each base zone are smaller colored zones. It is within these colored zones that players should play their cards—into the zone matching their chosen color. As a further indicator of where players should play their cards, when a player goes to play a card on a base during their turn, the colored zone will be highlighted and the colored disc associated with each zone will light up. If the colored zone does not highlight, this is an indicator that there is no base in the base zone (and therefore the base zone is not active) or it is not your turn.
The amount of power you have contributed to the base will be automatically calculated and shown on the scoreboard.
Tokens are available to modify a card’s power. These are contained in the green (+1), yellow (+5), and red (-1) pouches on the right side of the table (next to the Smash Up box). Just pull them out of the pouches and place them where desired. These tokens can also be placed on a base card, which will modify the base’s breakpoint (increasing or decreasing the breakpoint by the value on the token).

-----------------------
Turns Tour: The “Turns” panel in the upper left will show a list of current players in turn order. The current turn is shown with the player’s color/name highlighted by a light blue box. To end your turn, click the “End Turn” button in the lower right. This will pass the turn to the next player, and automatically draw 2 cards for you. To pass the turn to another player without clicking “End Turn” (and therefore avoid drawing 2 cards), just click the player’s name in the turn table.

-----------------------
Monster Madness: The madness, monster, and treasure decks will automatically be included in any game that uses “Obligatory Cthulhu” or “Munchkin” cards respectively. When a base that requires monsters is played, monster cards are automatically dealt to that base. The monster card play area is just to the left of the base card play area. NOTE: if a `Web Troll` monster is played on a base, it does not (yet?) automatically play another monster card.
At the end of the game, madness cards will be automatically tallied and apply their penalty to the final scores.

-----------------------
Scoring Stages: To score a base, click the base’s settings button. This will open up the “Base Settings” panel, showing several different things you can do with the base and the base zone. By far and away the most commonly used function here will be “Score Base”. After confirming that you do indeed want to score this base, a “base scoring progress panel” will appear on the top of every player’s screen. This panel shows:
● The name of the base being scored.
● Which stage of base scoring is currently underway (before, when or after a base scores).
● How many points are set to be given when the base scores.
In addition, there are two buttons that will appear to the left of the panel: “Pass” and “Used Special”. These buttons will appear first for the current active player. That player can pass, or if they decide to play/use a special ability, play the special ability and click the “Used Special” button. Either option will pass the opportunity to play/use a special to the next player. Once everyone has passed, the scoring will advance to the next phase.
The player whose turn it is to play or use a special can be monitored in the “Turns” panel: there is a pink star next to that player.
The scoring stages can also be advanced (more quickly) by clicking the navigation buttons on the bottom of the “Base Settings” panel, which will also display information about each phase of base scoring.

-----------------------
Beyond Base-ics: In addition to initiating base scoring, the base settings panel provides several other options. The “Change Breakpoint” button is used to manually set the breakpoint of a base. This allows players to essentially change the “starting breakpoint” of a base. After applying the change, any modifiers of the breakpoint (monsters, tokens) will then be applied to the breakpoint.
Some Smash Up cards, such as “Terraforming” or “Hulk Smash”, have the players remove a base card from play and replace it with another base without scoring the base or discarding the minions played there. This should be accomplished using the “Replace Base” button in the “Base Settings” panel. NOTE: If a base card is picked up and dropped into the discard pile, the whole base zone area will be cleared!

AEG just announced there will be rebalanced factions and errata on many cards. Is there any chance that you will be update those in this MOD?

Im sorry to hear that. Could you provide me further details surrounding the events of the crash? Were you using custom factions? did it happen during setup or during gameplay? did it happen when trying to score a base? etc. thank you!

Hello, great mod! The only thing is that the mod crashed on me twice in one day(Yesterday).

That's unfortunate. Thank you very much for your response :)

No, unfortunately, the save system has been bugged by an update. I haven't really been able to solve it yet (though admittedly, i also haven't made it a priority). I'll add to to my list now though to look back into it.

Some of my family any I switched over to this mod from the official game and are really enjoying it.

Unfortunately we're struggling to continue saved games. We get prompted to start UI set up again for the in progress game which fails.

As a work around I start a new game and go through the set up, and then additively load the save which gets the point tracking working again. Am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated :)

Thank you; i'll look into that.

I found that when The Gauntlet was played(automatically after previous base scored), monsters were not played automatically
(and it showed "Error in script (global): chunk_4:(3572, 16-63):cannot access field tags of userdata<LuaGameObjectScript>")
after I played monsters on monster zone, the breakpoint of that base didn't change as well
when I manually changed breakpoint of the base, it's breakpoint became the number I manually wrote plus monsters' power (so twice)
after I changed it back to the original breakpoint, it finally worked normally
not sure the other bases from Munchkin work normal or not
