I'm a bit worried about Army Names to be honest so keep a close eye on them.
The mod only adds a single file group of plain-text files that the game engine name generator references. So I would not expect it to hinder/break other mods on its own.
Just ran a test game with NSC 3; it doesn't appear that either has an issue with the other. Only thing I noticed was that, for the new ship classes, NSC pulls from the general list of warship names only; with how Stellaris formats namelists this makes sense. If I get enough interest, I'll look into making an alternate addition of the mod for use with NSC that addresses this.
If you do encounter any compatibility issues during your play-through please let me know and I'll do what I can on my side to rectify them!
But most of the names fit well for multiple ship classes, or lead to some humor/fun head-cannon, if not. Additionally, even with all the names on the list, limiting names to ship classes would have drastically increased the frequency at which any given name would appear. For these and other reasons I decided that it was better to limit only the super-ship names and leave the rest available for all classes, of battleship tonnage and smaller.
I hope that satisfactorily answered your question. If I start getting requests enemas to change this, I'll consider the alteration. Until then I hope you can live with your DD mantling the reputation of its mighty namesake; for its sake I hope it can see more combat than its progenitor did.
