NNTC "Kontos" 40KM Radar Missile (AIM-120)

Description
Full weapons pack here!

NNTC Kontos is the beginning of accessible BVR combat weaponry.

With Kontos, you can destroy maneuvering targets out to 40km. Guided all the way using only onboard sensors, there is no need to fit a specialized radar and antenna to your aircraft. (You may want a radar to see the target tho...)

Recommended engagement range: 5.5km-40.0km
Below 5km the missile is not going fast enough for proper target intercept. It may still hit a ground target over 2km.

The missile is visually 1x1x16, but the hitbox is 1x3x15. There are invisible microcontrollers on the top and bottom of the missile. Missile is 1:1 scale with an AIM-120-C7 and has been designed to look like it. Extra fins have been omitted from the design due to the clipped fins of modern AMRAAMs, and the drag properties of 1x1 fins. Having 1 block width allows the missile to be added to internal weapons bays much more easily, and allows for mounting on small multi-pylon racks.

For those concerned about the ease of countering the missile, the midcourse guidance system has an anti-chaff function to change tracked target by detecting chaff and ignoring background clutter.

Notes on weapon mounting: Surface launch is supported by the missile and does not incur any changes in launch stability. If you are mounting the missile on a hardpoint not directly above the missile, paste the missile UPRIGHT and select and rotate the missile hardpoint. The missile MUST be in the default orientation when in the editor to fly correctly. If the mount point rotates after spawn, this is completely fine. It is the orientation in the editor that matters.

Honing the dual radar guidance system has taken months and started with the 9km Creature missile, and continued into the Mica missile which went through 23 revisions, before being abandoned in favor of an extensive modification of the Wabunga airframe. Huge credit to Mallamar#1927 for development of the Mica and continued research into long range 1x1s.

Those interested in guidance information: Missile uses EPN guidance law in terminal phase, and Pure Pursuit in the midcourse phase.

Why is it called Kontos: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kontos_(weapon)
Powerful, pointy, and also 4m long.

I know your answer is going to be a big fat no but can you make a missile that has the same specs just shorter?

nice

it runs a loop and checks if the next radar target is within 1.5km of the first, since chaff always shows up as the highest target on radar

Just wondering! how does the anti-chaff system work! I have tried making my own but nothing works

@cailean.coleman how did you implement stealth through XML?
thatcoolcat1  [author] 8 Dec, 2022 @ 4:15pm
you only need a keep active block on the plane.

How do you do this without a keep active block?
