PREFACE

KAVACHAM (कवचम्) is Sanskrit for "shield(s)": and this is what this mod adds to Wildermyth.

- Retains and expands the Tower Shield from Smoker's Expanded Offhands mod (dropped previously), adding over a score of new Pavises, each with their own design. Note that the difference between these are strictly graphic in nature.
- Also adds a shield-type Artfact (or two) with its own set of bonuses and debuffs.
- Half a dozen different shields (including Smoker's legacy Tower Shield design) are craftable and ready for use, resources willing.
- (OPTIONAL)
(1) Debuffs to panicked heroes from Smoker's Expanded Combat: Morale mod increased. This was because of people complaining that his mod made the game too easy - the debuffs are very severe, so now you have to either use the To Battle! skill, or else withdraw your panicked heroes ASAP.
(2) Some monsters are now immune to being demoralsed - for instance, Gorelord's Blooded Ferocity now prevents morale loss, making them highly dangerous, unless you can deal lots of damage to them early on. Check Change Notes for update of 16 June 2023 to learn more.
- (OPTIONAL) Some limited patching for ComRat's Knight's Starter Pack.
- Italian, Chinese and Portuguese language support available / Sono disponibili traduzioni per italiano, cinese e portoghese / Traduções estão disponíveis para italiano, chinês e português / 提供意大利语、中文和葡萄牙语翻译 ! (has limited language support for mods by ComRat and Smoker).

One of the reasons why I came up with the Mods & Fixes mod was a fear that my favourite modders would remove features that I liked in their mods - Smoker's Expanded Offhands was undergoing a lot of changes and he had axed a lot of content that previously I had enjoyed, particularly the Tower Shield.

Since then, however, the Mods & Fixes project has grown too large and unwieldly and I also realised that not everyone enjoyed the changes I made to the game (or their mods for that matter). As a result I had decided, after playing with Gilded Magpie's Arthuruins Heraldic Shields mod, that if I wanted new pavises and tower shields, it would have to be in a project separate from my first mod. This tower shields pack was the result.

This mod will give you more than 3 new heavy shields - Pavises - to build in Towns, or at the beginning of a new chapter. However, the others remain scattered across the Yondering Lands and must be recovered for use. All of these shields are identical to one another, tactically speaking - with two exceptions, of course. In addition, it will also make 2 skills considered to be sub-optimal - Paladin, and Backslam - more useful, since Paladin allows you to offset the mobility penalties, whilst Backslam can capitalise on the additional Armor points granted for greater effect.

You can always download Kavacham 2 instead since it's a stand-alone project which operates differently.

Do I need the expanded off hands in order for this to work or can I just download this right away? I'm curious because it says on the required items thing it says to have the mod, but I don't want the off hand mod.

@petergrenmj: That is good to know, but there are several shields included in this mod that cannot be crafted. Can you confirm to me that those shields are generating whenever you clear sites? I need to know that my mod is working in full. Thanks for your help in advance.
