Cinema (Classic)

Description
This environment is my personal take on the quintessential movie theater, reminiscent of numerous cinemas I visited at many points during the late 80s, 90s, 2000s, and on. It features a large flat screen against dark curtained walls, visible speakers, movie-themed carpet patterns, stair lights, black acoustic tile ceilings, and various other details you will probably be familiar with if you’ve ever spent time in Regal, AMC, or other large chain movie theaters during those years. There are around 200 seats featuring a handful of audience members, similar to the Cinema (Modern) environment, which help to establish the scale of the “projected” images.

For me, this environment is a great way to revisit movies that you either missed in the theater or experienced on the big screen at the time, but will likely never (or very rarely) have the chance to see at a cinema again.

If you want to really get immersed into the experience, I’d recommend looking up “Regal Cinemas Rollercoaster” or “AMC Pre-Roll Bumper” on YouTube and crank up the volume. It’s a fun way to prepare for the movie theater experience in Virtual Desktop.

I have added a new version with a lower seat perspective here:

This is my favorite cinema. I like your other one but i like how there are more people in the audience. Any way you can make one with a packed theater? Thanks. Keep up the great work!

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words.

I agree that real time lighting options would be nice. My earlier creations were well-lit, but I had to go back and make dark versions of them for the viewing experiences to be enjoyable and make sense in the context of movie-watching. Since then, I've been trying to make them dark out of the gate, but a lot of details do get lost in the darker renders.

absolutely love this one. the uncanny, subtly moving audience was sort of a scary surprise but after a while they make it feel all the more immersive and nostalgic
i wish virtual desktop gave us the option to turn on/off lights in a setting like this, it would be a nice touch if we could fade in and out the lights in between movies. awesome work! :luv:
