Heavy War Mammoth Warshrine

Description
>>>*This mod is part of the Zerg Collection Volume I, DO NOT use this mod along said collection or you'll crash. Choose one.*<<<

*NOTICE* All of my screenshots are taken with my certified potato pc™.
This means (at least in theory) that my custom units will look better on your high-end machine (if you do have one).
So don't be scared off by my horrible screenshots, thanks.

*Please consult the Known Issues and QA sections before commenting, thanks.*

This Is a direct port of my Heavy War Mammoth Warshrine mod from Warhammer 2 with just some minor changes.
Please notice that the unit's stats screenshot was taken with the unit size setting set to large, so expect some changes if you are playing on Ultra.
Please notice that this unit will be available for Norsca and WoC only.
This unit Is currently not available (and I have no plans to change this) for the monogod factions and DoC.

This unit Is available through the main Chaos building chain (Altar of the Bloodfathers) for Norsca and through the main Black Fortress' Large Monsters building chain (need the Local Recruitment mod) for WoC.
Notice that you'll also need a tier 3 smithy (Dark Furnace) for Norsca and a tier 1 Black Fortress Shrine for WoC.

Ok, presentation over: let's dive into the technical stuff!

*COMPATIBILITY*

As far as I know this mod works with pretty much everything that do not mess too much with vanilla units.
Should be usable with an ongoing campaign but in my opinion You should not take any chances and use this mod on a brand new campaign to avoid any problems.

*KNOWN ISSUES*
-If You are experiencing weird glowing effects on the units then please use this mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2922534576 until CA officially fixes that issue.
-Missing textures with certain graphic settings/while looking from certain angles: LOD issues/missing textures issues can be caused by low settings, LOD mods, Immortal Empires BETA bugs and/or even some faulty version of H3ro asset editor.
Translated= I generally can't do anything about that.
If you are experiencing low poly models+missing textures related to the current state of the game there isn't a common solution that works for everyone, but I managed to fix that by doing the following:
-Disable Sharpening
-Enable FXAA
-Enable Unlimited video memory

*UPDATES POLICY*

Let me be straight with you...when the mod status change from updated to outdated....if you start to spam in the comment section things like "update pls, OMG UPDATE, can we have an update my good sir?, UpDaTe!1!1!1" and similar stuff....know that https://media.giphy.com/media/e3URFlLQywEPC/giphy.gif

...But jokes aside: please don't do that.
When it becomes necessary, and when I can, I will update my stuff, do not worry.

*QA*

-"Can you add this as a custom mount for X and or Y?"
No.
But you are free to make any type of mount submods, you have my permission.

-"Lord's Red line?Tech buffs?"
I gave them generic Monster and Mammoth unit sets so they should get buffs related to those sets.

-"SFO/Radious ecc. ?"
As a matter of fact I'm officially retired from SFO/Overhaul related mods.
As always: If you already have previous experience in SFO submodding feel free to make an SFO version out of any of my mods that are currently missing one, I will link your submods if you provide me with a link.

-"Your mods are ugly and janky, why? just why?"
Here's a friendly reminder: I'm just an amateur and nothing more.
If you want beautiful stuff with no jank then stick with CA and/or professional modders and avoid my mods, simple as that really.

-Chinese translation submod here https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?edit=true&id=2937446757

And that's all I guess!
Credits time!

Thanks to Phazer for RME editor!
Thanks to H3ro and his great tool!
Any of this would not have been possible without Frodo45127's RPFM which is still updated to this very day, thank you!
I would also like to thank Sebidee and Caligula for their great modding guides!
And I would like to thank you!
Whatever you liked my mod or not thanks a bunch for giving it a try!

Let's be brutally honest now: there are countless modders that are WAY more talented than me and that would deserve your money more than me.
That said, If you have grown to like my works so much to the point that you want to express your appreciation or just put a smile on my face...well: I will not stop you ;) .
You have my gratitude for all the support you can throw at me, independently by the donation's sum: you are all equals to me and I do thank you all.
From my part I can assure you that your donations will not be wasted, in fact I would mainly use them to:
-complete the Total War Warhammer DLC collection and thus expand my modding possibilities
-PC related things

Back to this mod again (sorry for off but related topic), folks:
THIS LOVELY MOD WORKS WITH 5.0.3 <3

If you can't get enough from mammoths and/or use one of zerg93's COMPILATION mods (there are 2 volumes) read the comments underneath for a link to a mammoth compilation mod which includes this one <3

@zerg93 I still don't have any useful/meaningful information on what exactly plays a role in this (otherwise I'd shared it with you) but I noticed that when running 200+ compatible "5.0 ready" mods and then adding your compilation mods on top, the game will stop starting.

I mention this because in the same situation with 4.2 the game started without problems, I tried and I just can't achieve quite the same easy-going compatibility with the large comp mods ever since we're on 5.0.... I know this is not very helpful in having a look at that problem, but as it's related (Mammoths mod) let me share this info with you today <3

The only thing I've found is that the exact same is true for @Trajann's 2 large compilation mods (Khorne compilation / Other Gods compilation). As soon as I have smth tangible to look at, I'll let you know! Much love from Berlin, @zerg93 <3

As @The King Of All Things Bacon was too shy to place it, here's a link to his "Mammoths" mod which conveniently combines this mod here and other mammoth mods on the Workshop in one mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=3243507897

I would however advise caution to use that mod if you also want to use Zerg's compilation mods Vol.1 and/or Vol.2... Hope that helps folks <3

Hey hey dude. I wanted to make a mod that compiles most of the warhammer 3 mammoth mod including yours. It meant to be for myself and my buddies but if all the authors agree, I would make it public for community to enjoy. Of course the links and mentions would be there. Cheers

Due to possible technical issues with RPFM not handling well regular updates with a huge mod pack and the concrete possibility of Steam not handling well said updates (Steam not downloading properly mod updates is more common than you think) an all in one mod is currently not planned.
I went for the volume formula instead, there are currently two volumes available:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2857626194 Volume I
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3152347380 Volume II
I may attempt to merge all of the volumes and make an all in one mod towards the end of Warhammer 3's life cycle and/or when I will be done with Warhammer 3 modding but I'm not 100% sure.

I love your mods! Great unit additions. Would you consider making a mod that includes them all in one?

Jul 7 Update:
-Removed WoC version of this unit from the Warband system
-Added the new Local Recruitment mod for WoC as new mod requirement (optional, only needed for recruiting this custom unit with WoC in campaign)

Sorry for the possible trouble generated by this update but I'll rather have my custom WoC units recruited with this method instead of cluttering the vanilla Warband System.
zerg93  [author] 27 Jun, 2023 @ 10:10am
Ok, after my investigation I can confirm that there was in fact a problem with recruiting this unit in campaign.
I fixed the issue by adding the unit to the Warband system: you'll find the unit in the Undivided Gorebeast Chariot upgrade section.
This will probably cause some discontent with people who were already suffering from a cluttered Warband Ui, but I don't have much of a choice here.
Do note that for some reason the upgraded unit will spawn with only minimal HP and will need a few turns to fully recover, no idea why.
