If someone else, like me, was confused how to install maps from the Steam workshop:
1. Subscribe to the map
2. Launch Terraria
3. In the main menu, press "Workshop" followed by "Import Worlds"
4. The map you've subscribed to should show up in the list. Simply import it and pick a name
