If someone else, like me, was confused how to install maps from the Steam workshop:
1. Subscribe to the map
2. Launch Terraria
3. In the main menu, press "Workshop" followed by "Import Worlds"
4. The map you've subscribed to should show up in the list. Simply import it and pick a name

The way I did it was: make small world with corruption
murder mr. worm in corruption chasms
le epic terraformer moment
make houses at spawn and kill time until dryad arrives
talk to dryad
